Where I work, the rank and file could sometimes be heard randomly bleating out "fuck Trump!" in widely attended meetings, if a random conversational context called for it.

Wife of Moscow's mayor makes a gift to Hunter Biden. Russia invades Ukraine. Said wife does not end up on sanctioned oligarch list. Maybe, maybe not. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/28/donald-trump-moscow-mayor-deals-422642 Lot’s of smoke and steam in all directions from this gossip worthy yarn.

Why tank their opportunity to keep working at the factory under different management? Things would be bad enough under a Chinese takeover without worrying about where to work after the dust settles. You assume every worker is amenable to working for the CCP. No, I'm assuming every worker is more amenable to working than not working at all.

@Jolly said in Seniors & Debt: Read the article and educate yourself. In case it wasn't clear to our more elderly members, I was joking. Clearly, affordable healthcare is a massive problem in this country. It's a massive problem in other countries, too, but for different reasons. All things considered, my parents got pretty well looked after in their old age, and it didn't really cost them anything.

@Horace said in Artistic integrity: I just bought his book Faith, Hope, and Carnage, based on the quality of that letter. He is one hell of a writer in my humble opinion. Not because he's weird, which he is. He's also very good.

One can easily imagine Hunter having direct access to whatever deep state interns develop the talking points, and one can imagine those interns being excited to befriend Hunter.

@jon-nyc said in JD Vance’s novel economic theory: Ive yet to hear him, though he's set to be on Andrew Sullivan's pod soon, so I will. Your attitude towards him is a done deal, once you hear him speak of Trump and January 6. Which he will. He's done 10s of podcasts and goes over that stuff on each. You've painted yourself into a corner of a necessary loss, as a legitimately intelligent politician attempts to find an electable middle, which happens to coincide with what he actually thinks.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Barbie - Maher hates it: @Axtremus said in Barbie - Maher hates it: @Doctor-Phibes Why do you feel you need an excuse to watch a movie? Just go. Single guy in late middle-age sitting in a dark room filled with kids? I think I'll pass. But the Barbie movie attracts many adult viewers, including those without children. So you would not seem "out of place" if you go watch it solo. (Same could be said for the LEGO movies, the Super Mario Bros. movie, the Ninja Turtles movie, the animated Spider Man movie, etc. After all, these are decades old franchises with fans that have grew up with the franchises over many decades.)

I thought the same thing. Yes, of course it would have been traumatic for her, and I may be wrong, but I am not sure how much she really could have seen from her seat. Pure financial opportunism. The lawyer may have canvassed the list of passengers for a willing plaintiff. Agree. Like most of the lawsuits that I think are goofy
