I wonder what the revolution, after reparations are paid, will look like. Of course it will never happen, but the speculation could be fun.

My guess was it was a miniature house with pictures to make it seem like it's at least.... 3 times as big.

@Horace said in Racial Preferences May Be Ending, but the Fight Will Continue: My favorite point in McWhorter's piece, is that with economic preferences rather than racial, blacks would be helped even more. I assume economic preferences would be much more widely accepted by the left and right. It's almost painful how "common sense" that is instead of how much melanin your skin has. We will look back at the previous policy with judging eyes for how stupid it was.

South Carolina. It's slower than North Carolina. My BIL 's wife is an endangered species - a native Floridian. I tell her she has a Cracker accent. She rolls her eyes at me.

Agreed. It reminds me of Churchill’s comment about British policy re Ireland prior to independence: Something like: ‘There’s something to be said for smashing them to bits, there’s something to be said for giving them everything they want. But there’s nothing to be said for our current policy’. I think the reality is Nixon set us on a path to recognizing the CCP as the victor in the civil war (and hence the sovereign of all of pre-war china) but chose to ease into it to make it more palatable for public opinion and the Taiwanese.

Based on my calculations, assuming 117 billion people ever born, and 7 billion alive currently, the average human dies .94 times.

You know the best way to increase your IQ? Do lots of IQ tests. D’uh. Probably not the best route to being more successful, however.

The squirrel, too. I killed one just like that once. The thing got safely across the road in front of my oncoming car, and then at the last minute turned around and came back acrosss and ran right under my wheel. Stupid creature.

Speaking of despicable, in Virginia some pol named Barker (Borker? Porker?) is featuring mass shootings as an advertising device in his campaign ads.

@xenon said in Nadler gives idiots a bad name...: Even in the early days of the pandemic, it all felt very performative. There was plenty of that bullshit in Trumpland, too. Outside of masks, there were a lot of things we could have done at the personal level to keep others from getting infected. We could have decided to stay the hell home sometimes. We could have tried to keep our distance when talking to our neighbors. We could have actually had consideration for the health of ourselves and others and just tried to make it work. I don't even care if they worked or not, I appreciated when people wore masks when their intent was to be considerate. Plenty of folks on the left didn't want to be considerate. They wore masks in a halfass virtue-signaling manner when they weren't taking yet another selfie to show everyone else how good they were being. They then used that and a smattering of the right kind of hashtags to shame others on Instagram, it had nothing to do with consideration. Same goes for the red-blooded motherfuckers who would rather exercise THAR FERDOMS!!! than maybe not kill grandpa. Instead of staying home, they bought fucking T-shirts signaling their own anti-masker virtues that they'd wear to as big a public gathering as they could find. The science bullshit is whatever. Either way, we failed pretty hard having our priorities in order.
