@Axtremus said in There is no part of the market Biden won't muck around in.: The US government mucking around in real estate and homeownership is not new. Long before Biden, FHA loans allow for down payment as low as 3% -- far below usual market expectations. This is not a "new" part of the market that the federal government inserts itself into. Arnold Kling, an Economist formerly at George Mason, puts it best. The US doesn’t subsidize homeownership, it subsidizes ‘home borrowership’.

@LuFins-Dad said in Now And Then: Sorry. I still don’t get The Beetle’s fandom. It was a great car for it's time. Affordable, reliable and designed by Adolf Hitler with some assistance from Ferdinand Porsche. What's not to like? Anyway, getting back to the song, I didn't think it was that great.

Oh, I thought the thread was going to be about Trump being told to speak respectfully to the judge and prosecutors in the NY case.

@George-K said in Maher - New Rules - "Civ Vicious": Electricity Printing press Internal combustion (yeah, I know) The list goes on and on. These are non-cultural advances. They have transformed humanity. I think that climate was factor in this. Cold weather people are forced to innovate more than hot weather people. (Yes, yes, I know that is a "generalization")

"She would not be there except for me and my support. She is a RINO and a LOSER!!" Iowa's popular Republican governor, Kim Reynolds, will endorse her fellow governor, Florida's Ron DeSantis, in the Iowa Caucus, according to a source familiar with the matter. She will appear at an event alongside DeSantis in Des Moines on Monday evening.

@George-K said in Chinese Submarine Accident: @taiwan_girl said in Chinese Submarine Accident: And I am sure that the story never was even in the news. So, no need to spin it. Does news like this make its way to the general population of China? Do people ever wonder what happened to their neighbor's son who is in the military, and never returned? Their internet censoring is called it the "Great Firewall" and it is amazingly good. So, if someone searched for "submarine" + "accident", the results would come back with nothing, or at least nothing that related to a Chinese submarine accident. I am sure that in the example you gave, yes, someone in a small town or city may wonder what is going on, but for the other 99.9999999% of the population, they will remain ignorant.
