@Copper said in "Total Navigation Failure": On occasion, the US Federal Government is required to conduct GPS tests, training activities, and exercises that involve interfering with GPS receivers. https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/gps-service-interruptions This happens pretty regularly around here, maybe once a month. Yah. but they warn you about it.

A lot of insurance companies are losing money on their home and auto right now. Combination of driving habits (bad ones picked up a lot during covid) fender-benders becoming much more expensive (sensors and cameras are in our bumpers) and many states having regulations that limit which policies they can cancel..how much they can raise rates, etc. When money is tight, insurance companies become real assholes about how they handle claims. They'll pay them (eventually), but make you work for it....knowing many people just throw their hands in the air. It'd interesting to see how Tesla fairs vs other big names...At least those companies have other insurance products (business, workers comp, etc) that can keep them afloat.

@Mik said in How about those Eagles?: Funny, I don't remember them bitching about it when the calls went their way in the SB against Bengals. Just like elections. Losers whine, winners dine.

Exactly, at the end of the day I have to pay the bottom line price. If the price is too high, at least I'll know ahead of time.

I've always been skeptical about windshield repairs that are DIY. Guess my concerns were unfounded.

At the Taiwan Costco's at least, they always check your picture, even at the regular check out. (I dont know how carefully how ever) I dont remember that they have the self check out yet there.

@George-K said in 1926 Macallan: I don't understand this. At all. I don't either, but I think it is like the others said. Super rich people spending on toys. If the buyer is 1MM times more rich than I am, than this purchase was like me buying something for 2.2 pounds. It is an atmosphere I will never reach.

@George-K I read The Firm when it first came out. For a few months it seemed like everyone was reading it. Sort of like DaVinci Code, speaking of authors who rewrite the same story over and over.

For the record, and maybe because I've had 2 glasses of wine tonight to unwind, but I know full and well (and have known for the last couple years) that I am living in "the good old days" right now. Yes I get maybe 5 hours of sleep per night (3 kids ages 5, 3, and infant = some combo will be up throughout the night), and yes I'm out of shape (no time to work out, plus snacking at 10pm doesn't help)... it's sleep, work, kids, sleep, work, kids, and maybe a house project from time to time. But I'm fully aware of how awesome the kids are at this age... my son was told once (ONCE!) that a toy pirate was called a scallywag and so he goes around today narrating how the scallywag was fixing the pirate ship, and the 10 month old (been walking for a month btw, WTF) points at me and smiles when I come up from working, then she tries to play chase... meanwhile, and at the sacrifice of this sentence never ending, my 5 year old pretended to be a cat going to bed tonight, after drawing a very impressive picture for me earlier in the day. The good old days... exhausting beyond belief, but I'm enjoying it.
