@Renauda Yes. Unlike those of us who have been raised in that environment, it is not the innate desire or ability we seem to think it is. Post-Soviet Russia is a classic example.

@kluurs said in Claire de Lune, vor bananan und klavier: My family was not classical music focused, but everyone loved Claire de Lune. It was one of the few pieces that Victor Borge seemed willing to perform without joking around. I play it once in a while to keep it from getting too far gone from my hands. Here’s the thing about Debussy… I hear jazz when I listen to him. Let me piss off a bunch of people right now… While African American blues is certainly a very large part of the development of jazz, it was equally influenced and shaped by French Impressionist composers. Now they were in turn influenced by the African American musicians (Listen to Golliwog’s Cakewalk and tell me with a straight face that ain’t a ragtime piece), the French also influenced the developing American Jazz musicians. Jazz is generally recognized to have been developed by African Americans ~ 1917-1920, you had very similar styles developing in France. Ravel both heavily influenced and was influenced by the burgeoning musical style… Then there’s Satie… Tell me that’s not Jazz… Gymnopedie 1 was composed in the 1880s , decad s before the supposed creation of Jazz…

@Doctor-Phibes said in "Lady, you're on drugs.": That was so ridiculously over the top it almost looked fake, but presumably it wasn't. https://ktla.com/news/local-news/motorists-takes-to-the-405-freeway-with-only-3-wheels-in-orange-county/ A motorist on the 405 Freeway in Orange County was captured on video driving her vehicle with the hatchback completely open and a missing passenger-side front tire. “Rather dangerous situation happening here on the 405, tailgate open. There’s no tailgate party going on in sight,” Instagram user Chad Towersey, who captured the video, can be heard saying. Sparks are seen flying off the passenger-side rim as the woman drives down the roadway, seemingly unaware of the situation. The vehicle also looked like it had recently been in an accident. Towersey and another driver moved in front of the woman and were able to slow her down and direct her off the freeway. When the woman finally came to a stop and was confronted by Towersey and the other driver, she appeared disoriented and maintained that nothing was wrong. “You’re on drugs right now. You’re on painkillers,” Towersey can be heard saying to the woman, who denied that she was. “I am not. Oh my God, absolutely not,” she can be seen saying. According to Towersey, the woman had no idea what was going, nor how many people she was putting at risk. In an emailed statement to KTLA, the Irvine Police Department said it is aware of the online videos and indicated the woman has not been arrested, but the matter remains under investigation. The vehicle involved has been impounded as part of the investigation. “Alleged medical conditions can complicate driving under the influence investigations and are a consideration in this case,” the statement read. “IPD is conducting a thorough investigation into this matter which will be forwarded to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.” As for Towersey, he told KTLA that another man had tried to help the woman put a spare tire on the car earlier in the day, but that she took off while her vehicle was up on a jack. He added that he has no ill will toward the woman and wishes the best for her, though he certainly hopes that Irvine Police continue to investigate and take appropriate action. https://97x.com/california-woman-driving-on-3-wheels-confronted-by-civillian/

The source said the additional search terms included: "White Power," "Camp Auschwitz," "Antifa," "Proud B," "Storm, the," "Capitol," "Groyper Army," "Threepers," "boogaloo," "civil war," "last sons," "kill," "shoot," "gun," "death," "murder," "Biden," "Kamala," "Pelosi," "Schumer" and "Pence." I wanna know what other "keywords" were used. "Allah?" "Quran?" "Jihad?" "Prophet?" As I said in the other thread, I'm asking for a friend, of course.

@LuFins-Dad said in Hard to imagine: And in 2024 you can go in and hear TaTa singing Me, with special guest Usher. It's a shame they didn't have recording technology back then. I think we could all learn a lot from Mahler and Rachmaninoff's bootlegged version of 'Spank My Bitch Up'. MAHLER'S IN DA' HOUSE!!!!

@taiwan_girl said in Another Romney bites the dust.: @Jolly said in Another Romney bites the dust.: @89th said in Another Romney bites the dust.: That is a good point, although how many of them voted for Biden and are willing to make the switch? Maybe a trickle of folks, but I can't imagine it's a swarm of vote switchers. Doesn't take a swarm. Probably takes about 500k votes total, spread among the right states. Secondly, I've heard more than one Democrat say they're not voting for Biden. They're not voting for Trump, but they're definitely not voting for Biden. But, there is a pretty good chance that some President Trump voters will not vote for him and vote for the Democrat nominee appointee for President. So, they may cancel each other out. Yes, and if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their butts when they hop.
