There was a guy (in CHicago I think), that didnt like people who drove around distracted on their phones. So, he had a cell phone jammer in his car and when he drove around, it disrupted cell phones with a certain radius. I believe he used it on the expressways. He got caught becuase it also interfered with police communications. EDIT: This isnt the story I was thinking of, but it is similar. https://lawandcrime.com/crazy/man-charged-for-using-cellphone-jammer-to-get-peace-and-quiet-during-train-commute/ A man in search of some peace and quiet on his commute home is now facing one felony count of unlawful interference with a public utility. Dennis Nicholl, a 63-year-old Chicago man, was arrested after undercover police officers boarded a Red Line train and spotted him with a cellphone jammer amidst reports of disrupted communication by the Chicago Transit Authority and its passengers.

Coyotes are breeding or hunting. If you heard a pack, they're hunting. We shoot them on sight, day or night.

Bad thread title, IMO. That was a very clear and intentional suicide.

Just asked her about that “procedure”. Her answer was: “Oh yeah, unfortunately lot’s like that. They come to our hospital after the surgeons have finished with them. Our radiation oncologists just don’t call it by that name”.

@Jolly said in Jamie Speaks: They used to be. We had too much money dumped into the system and took much debt. Only way to address the debt is through higher taxes and inflation. Truth. Especially since no one seems to be interested in seriously cutting spending.

BTW, most of the eye docs she worked with used the binocular scope whenever possible. Loupes only when they had to.

Someone asked why hasn't someone hacked it? On reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/1cbhvwg/eli5_why_hasnt_voyager_i_been_hacked_yet/ Well the act of hacking Voyager would be relatively easy. I am sure that you could get a copy of the Voyager protocol to figure out what to send to Voyager to make it do what you want it to do. The issue is how to send the signal, and where. Voyager 1 and 2 are so far away that not only do you need a very high powered transmission source, but you also need to know exactly where in the sky to send it to. Which means a motivated hacker would need to: Learn the protocol (Easy) Figure out something that they could make Voyager do that would be interesting enough to make it worth it (Harder) Craft the signal to send (Moderately difficult) Hack into or otherwise gain access to one of a handful of transmitters who can reach Voyager 1 or 2 (Very difficult) Point the transmitter at Voyager 1 or 2 without anyone noticing (Staggeringly difficult) Send the very slow bit-rate message to Voyager 1 or 2 (Easy) Not get sent to jail for a short blurb on the evening news (Difficult) Somewhat related: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Cometary_Explorer#ISEE-3_Reboot_Project my favorite comment: That's why I store all my data in random locations somewhere within the Oort Cloud.

Also, the story is much about geopolitics (if that's the proper word). Earth has become a stagnant, deteriorating place. Luna is its only outpost. Mars, still in the process of terraforming, is an upstart, somewhat militaristic, society. Aspiring to become what Earth once was, in another couple of hundred years. Finally, there is "The Belt." The collection of hollowed-out asteroids. The "Belters" see themselves as being exploited by "The Inners" - Earth and Mars - for the resources that the Belt has. So, there's a lot of competition going on...and then, something weird happens to upset the tenuous balance of power. It's by far the most scientifically-accurate sci-fi I've ever seen. No "warp drive," no artificial gravity, and transit between places can take a long long time. The first three episodes don't "suck you in," but they raise enough questions about what, exactly, is going on. Then, once you get it...you're hooked. Amos is probably the most moral character - or at least the most un-conflicted.

I think I am out of the doghouse with any side effects or reactions with yesterday’s vaccine. No discernible discomforts or complaints whatsoever either last evening or today. Did my normal workout on the elliptical this am.
