My dad loved Newhart. Genuinely funny man in a truly different way.

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Great guy as near as I can tell, gentle humor. He had the gift of not offending too many people. RIP.

My dad liked him too. I knew him as the star of the second Newhart show at the B&B in Vermont. I only learned later of his comedy career and albums. A lot of it holds up. I guess him and Andy Griffith had a lot in common for their career paths.

          Education is extremely important.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

R.I.P.. Along with Don Knotts and Tim Conway one of the truly funniest comics of the last sixty plus years. All three were hilarious in their trade without any trace of vulgarity or crassness.
