Also, the story is much about geopolitics (if that's the proper word). Earth has become a stagnant, deteriorating place. Luna is its only outpost. Mars, still in the process of terraforming, is an upstart, somewhat militaristic, society. Aspiring to become what Earth once was, in another couple of hundred years. Finally, there is "The Belt." The collection of hollowed-out asteroids. The "Belters" see themselves as being exploited by "The Inners" - Earth and Mars - for the resources that the Belt has. So, there's a lot of competition going on...and then, something weird happens to upset the tenuous balance of power. It's by far the most scientifically-accurate sci-fi I've ever seen. No "warp drive," no artificial gravity, and transit between places can take a long long time. The first three episodes don't "suck you in," but they raise enough questions about what, exactly, is going on. Then, once you get it...you're hooked. Amos is probably the most moral character - or at least the most un-conflicted.

I think I am out of the doghouse with any side effects or reactions with yesterday’s vaccine. No discernible discomforts or complaints whatsoever either last evening or today. Did my normal workout on the elliptical this am.

@George-K said in The Price of Lawfare: @Jolly said in The Price of Lawfare: coordinated through the Biden Whitehouse Well, we discovered, this week, that the White House coordinated with the director of the National Archives and Records Administration to stop negotiating about the records so that they could start a criminal investigation. We also know there was communication between the Whitehouse and the Fulton County DA's office.

I think that focusing on that in this discussion is missing the forest because of all the trees…

Someone commented that the Australian government is NOT demanding that YouTube take the video down. I wonder why.

Put the MRI data and all other information (such as blood tests) into a specifically trained AI system and I see no reason why this system could not become good at identifying the tumors where it pays off to do something about.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Best way to cook eggs...: She doesn't mention my current favourite - cooked in bacon fat, along with the bacon. It doesn't look great, but it tastes wonderful. I used to do the basting method. Wow that sounds great. I’ll give the 10/10 method a try soon, too. I normally either do the water/steam method or I do 1 min on an (already very hot) skillet then flip and reduce heat to low for a few min. For better or worse I’m not a picky eater. There are few foods and styles that I won’t consume. That being said, if I ever did win powerball or something… I’d live a very normal life but I’d absolutely higher a full time chef.

@George-K said in How to fix college finances?: OK, I looked at the article. https://x.com/JohnArnoldFndtn/status/1782854650841939971 There are schools that have more administrators than students, though. Stanford, Duke, and Cal Tech are three I am aware of.

@Jolly Look at the Norway Campaign in WW2. You mean the Soviet Winter War against Finland in ‘39 and ‘40.

The first amendment speaks to the press and speech separately. That is not an accident. It is to make it very clear. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
