@Jolly said in The Art and Science of Swearing: I think it's a sign of societal coarseness and lack of intelligence when it's overdone. Fucking bollock-shite. I remember my grandfather (whom I worshipped) saying it demonstrated a lack of vocabulary. My inner voice at roughly 7 years old thought, but did not say, 'How can it be a lack of vocabulary when people who swear have got more words available?' The point of this? I was an annoying smartass at 7 years old, too.

@Copper said in zyn?: @Doctor-Phibes said in zyn?: What possible benefit can chewing nicotine bring? Rod Carew, who won 7 batting titles, claimed that the wad of tobacco in his cheek helped him see the ball better. It's tough to argue with 7 batting titles. He later died from salivary gland (right next to the tobacco) cancer. Didn't hurt that he tended to use a lighter, shorter bat. Not a lot of homers, but very quick bat speed...

Wow! I have been waiting for a state government to start demanding cars self report, but Ford developing itself, and not to report on itself but to snitch on others?

I don't think that they can win the Senate. Too many of the Senate campaigns are against them. Democrats have to win almost 100%. Republics only have to win maybe 20% to take control.

@Mik said in That feeling you get: If you don't have A/C you need an attic fan. That's what we grew up with and they are great. Same here. No A/C growing up, although we got some window units when I was high school I think? I think as a kid I wasn't as sensitive to temperature. Fan... window...

This is the first time I've seen him give a dish a "Zero". Also the first time he said he wouldn't even try it. https://x.com/ChefReactions/status/1817918925654356425

Life as prey is tough. Glad she's getting more open. Dogs often take clues from their owners, and people that would choose a chihuahua intentionally, well.....

In all seriousness, Marvel has managed to pull off some fun storytelling, and the buildup and culmination in Avengers Endgame was fantastic. Yes, there are woke bits tossed in here and there, but for a comic book geek? I never expected a live action adaptation to come out so well. The scene where Captain America is the last one standing in Endgame [image: b2cjecwhzp771.jpg] through all of the other missing heroes making their return and the other Avengers reviving, culminating in “Avengers, Assemble”? @kluurs said in Recital: That's my favorite Brahms Intermezzo. Nicely done. It's tough to be last to perform on a program. When I did play for recitals or being judged, the first piece was always one that it took to settle down. I eventually chose to go with something incredibly solid, followed by the new pieces. You did well with both performances. I love that Bach - very engaging and sensitively performed. I'm glad your hand injuries are in the rear view mirroa nd hope you eventually get a grand to play on. Thank you Kluurs. I’m getting used to the idea that i’ll never own a grand. It’s ok. I do like the compact form of an upright
