I had a number of friends in Canada who'd left South Africa and Zimbabwe at about the same time that we left the UK. The stories they told were really sad, and it sure hasn't got any better.

In some places in Washington the co-pay and deductible waivers for covid are being phased out. That means some people will be on the hook to pay several thousand dollars for treatment (potentially). Maybe that'll incentivize additional vaccinations... though probably not.

It all depends on the parents. Look at the current unrest in Loudon County. Parents are uniting against something they do not want taught in their schools. If I read things correctly, the county is known for having good schools and parents of whatever political stripe want to continue that tradition.

Wouldn't want to fly one out of LAX, but small, local airports? To fly to DFW, I catch an AE (Embraer jet), arriving 20 minutes before departure. TSA is a breeze and I gate-check my carry-on. Flight time is around 50 minutes. If I drove, it would be about 250 miles.
