Ian Hislop, the British satirist, broadcaster and editor of the magazine Private Eye, can be brutal in his takedowns of politicians, but he goes after any of them who he feels deserve it, regardless of party.

And he does it without frothing at the mouth, even when the points he makes can be deadly serious.

Here's a fun game to play: Chess.

Try playing it without any education against somebody who has studied it, and see what happens.

It's very easy to underestimate the importance of education regarding topics that we don't know very much about.

Chess is far more amenable to study by laymen than COVID virology.

I take your original point, however the actual cure for Covid, rather than a load of opinionated bullshit about wearing masks, is very unlikely to come from some guy on Facebook.

Didn't know he was a good baseball player, too. Probably a pitcher? Just kidding. Definitely a catcher.

Interesting. I wonder what kind of closures they are using? Certainly cork is not a great alternative. But you sure would not open up an oxidized wine.

Had my first shot of Moderna on Monday. Mrs Mark and youngest daughter got theirs on Wednesday. I had a sore arm for a day or so. Mrs. Mark seems to not have had the sore arm right away but it got sore and her stomach has been upset today and she is not feeling too good. Youngest seems to be fine aside from the sore arm.

    Political retaliation.
Regardless, why is Delta getting the fuel credit in the first place? Are there other companies getting the credit and are they all treated the same as Delta when it comes to getting or keeping the credit?

    $38.95 for two bearings.

Eight feet tall shelves, probably 1500 square feet of them. Bearings and races from the floor to the ceiling. Nobody in any real hurry, just a half-dozen guys hunting parts and swapping stories while we waited.

Four of us determined we had the same daughter...

I really should take another picture of them doing that. The other day, there were five of them sunning their little white bellies at the same time.

    Oh, do!

I thought he looked more like Simon Pegg with extensions.

Biden's presentation is pretty shocking, too. He's like Ronald Reagan's lost third term.

About a cup of mirepoix, 4 cloves of garlic, 12 oz water, 1 can of Golden Mushroom (much better), 1 package Lipton Onion Mushroom Soup mix, some thyme and some rosemary. 2.8 lb boneless chuck.

It comes out really a bit more of a beef stew, but that's OK. I love beef stew. MFR used to get tons of it free when she sold for Con-Agra. It was a bi-pack like LaChoy stuff, with the meat and gravy in one pack and the potatoes and other vegetables in a separate can. The stuff was really a great fast dinner.
