@horace said in The Tomorrow War: @doctor-phibes said in The Tomorrow War: I really hope they do a good job with the LoTR universe - I've been a big Tolkien fan since I was 10. It would be very easy to make a mess of it. I wonder if they'll follow any canonical story. The characters or plot lines don't need to come from any canon, they just need to avoid contradicting canon. They should have a fair amount of freedom, as it's set in The Second Age. Presumably they'll dip into the Silmarillion for ideas - there's a ton of potential material in there.

@aqua-letifer said in American Thinker du jour...: @horace said in American Thinker du jour...: How much of politics comes down to those who pay taxes vs those who want the taxes of others to support them? MMT will be tested more and more as demographics dictate that the takers, with their useless degrees, useless or non-existent jobs, low salaries, and low tax burdens, inexorably outweigh the providers. Better hope America can squeeze enough out of Gates and Bezos. The actual economic contributions from both groups isn't as clear cut as that. I'm not saying economics dictate votes. Even if they did, tribalists won't give an inch about whether one side is better than the other. (Have you heard that the economy does better under Democrat presidents than Republican presidents? If you haven't heard that, feel free to skim any conversation in any forum anywhere online. That factoid will be mentioned within the first three responses. Thus, anybody who has an issue with MMT inspired Democrat economic plans, is simply ignorant.)

Complaints equal 0.0000767%. I think I’ll take my chances. Chances of dying of Covid are much much higher. The odds are about the same as being hit by lightning. You can’t make this stuff up.

@jolly said in CDC sez....: My point is this...Masks only provide a fraction of barrier protection that is not nearly what most people think. And as far as staff masks in the office go...I'm telling you what I see. When the employees or docs are around patients or walking down the hallway, they mask. Behind closed doors, staff tends to lay them on the counter or pull them down. I have not seen the back areas of the hospital treated the same as the public areas. Not in some time... I think we all get that. Why people go to war over masks is the question. The outrage is a strong indicator of a sick society, like whales beaching themselves or bee colony collapse.

I’ve watched a ton of streaming content. The beauty of a decent movie is the curation, pacing, production values. You get a two hour version of an entire season, and it is quite refreshing. I enjoy having to pay more attention. That said if people won’t pay to go to the movies in mass anymore, investors are going to put their money where the growth is. It’s that simple.

It‘s Trump’s own doing. Trump wanted to remove that head of the CFPB that was similarly term-protected and approved by the Senate, so Trump sued to have that power all the way up to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ruled, basically along partisan line, that the President does indeed have the power to fire this type of “single head of agency” positions. Now Biden gets to weild the power given to the Presidency by Trump and the Supreme Court conservative majority’s doing. FWIW, the same power were also exercised recently to fire the head of the federal housing administration.

That's the barrel from a RPK machine gun poking out on the left side of the pic. That sucker weighs around 11 pounds, not to mention the ammo to feed it. I wouldn't want to hump it up and down hills. Especially if I was a woman...
