OK, I'm not going to waste the electrons and seconds by wading through that piece.

I'll simply say, "What the actual fuck are they talking about?"

Or, "Global cooling, er... warming Climate change, is there anything it can't do?"

I did not expect social media to die this fast.

We used to laugh at this for very different reasons.

I’m wondering if I should be scared.

Life is pointless. That’s not okay. I show that. I argue that a point is a valued end and that, as agents, it makes sense for us to want our efforts and enterprises to have a point. Valued ends provide justifying reasons for our acts, efforts, and projects. I further argue that ends lie separate from the acts and enterprises for which they provide a point. Since there can be no end external to one’s entire life since one’s life includes all of one’s ends, leading and living one’s life as a whole cannot have a point. Finally, I argue that since we live our lives and structure our living-a-human-life efforts both in parts and as a whole, it is fitting to be sad to recognize that leading and living a life is pointless. My discussion helps make sense of the literature that frequently talks around this topic but often does so vaguely and indirectly.

Reaction? He’s not Orange. Those that voted against Trump got what they wanted.

Hell, they could have run a Walt Disney’s frozen head and the vote totals would likely be the same.

Just like the the 2016 election only in reverse.

MS-DOS was written for the IBM PC

    IBM ruled the world

As soon as IBM announced the PC, nothing else mattered

That was 1981, only 40 years ago, the world has changed since then

And obviously, the environmental concerns are bound to be a lot more complicated than Beef=Bad.

As well, just because it’s complicated does not mean Beef≠Bad. Personally, I have no problem acknowledging that raising beef cattle makes a huge impact on the environment and still eat beef. I think I eat more lamb/mutton than beef, yet I also acknowledge that, pound for pound, lamb/mutton has an even bigger environmental impact than beef. 🤷‍♂️

Interesting article, but the last sentence makes me go whaaaaaaaaat?

"And the need for extra heating in both hemispheres would come at a time when it’s likely that much of our heating capacity, supplied largely by fossil fuels, will have been eliminated in the name of combating climate change."

To me, that is kind of "absurd" statement, that makes me question the rest of what was wrote. So, we are going to eliminate heating capacity, and allow people to freeze? ummmmm, no, I do not think so.

    Texas 2021.

That's so sad to see. Yes, only plain sugar should be used. Someone probably thought honey was a natural product, thus better. Poor bird.

Pictures are pretty amazing things. A good photograph will live forever.

But the other side is photographs like this. If I was at a funeral, and someone was filming me the whole, I am sure that one frame of the funeral, I maybe would have a smile or slight smile on my face. They could take that photograph and easy make it sound like I was happy to be at the funeral.

Yeah, the whole "a photograph doesn't lie" thing is pretty ridiculous. Todd Hido considers photographs to be somewhere between a novel and a film in terms of what kind of imagination the viewer has to provide in order to interpret the message. I think that's true, but I like John Free's explanation better: he claims he never took a picture of what something was, only what it could be.

I don't think he was being colorful, either, I think that's actually what happens.

Liz's problem is that she couldn't see, or say, that there were good Republicans on both sides.

I like her a lot, but I can't see her winning primaries.

Three years ago my 28-year-old single, divorced daughter got a no-down USDA loan (best kept secret) just outside the Portland Metro urban growth boundary and bought half of a duplex in an HOA neighborhood. Cost her $157,900 but was probably about a $180,00-190,000 value all because there were no interior pics because it had renters in it, you couldn't tour it until you made a rescindable offer, and it had sat on the market about a month.

Two years later and some improvements like all new flooring and landscaping she sold it for about $50k in profit and bought a condo in one of the most upscale communities just outside of Portland proper.

A little luck and some smart thinking. Her commute was about 30 minutes on a typical day, and sometimes a horrific 2 hours if there was an accident.

    It can be done.
