If they looked at our culture in the 1970’s they still have a long way to catch up and they really haven’t invented anything new under the sun except maybe if you have to bake a wedding cake for everyone.

But actually I never did hear the names Grant or Lee in my middle school education (nor later, since middle school was when we were supposed to learn about them). I had a young black lady for a history teacher in middle school, and she was progressive before it was cool to be progressive. While other classes from other teachers learned about the Civil War, we learned about the underground railroad and all things slavery. I didn't mind, and my parents didn't either. (I was too young to know it was strange, anyway.) At least she wasn't teaching the class that the whole society hated the dark skinned among them.
