I actually think he's going overboard. Peterson was an astonishing technician, but he isn't normally mentioned when people are talking about the absolute top jazz greats.

Your AOC post of the day: @jolly said in Hey Cats! Your AOC post of the day: And dumb as a fox. Which admittedly isn't something you can say about Margorie Taylor Greene. Who's ideas are further along a cultural slippery slope, MTG's or this one from AOC? Capitalism is a system that prioritizes profit at any & all human/enviro cost. Who's ideas are more entrenched currently, and becoming more entrenched through the younger generations? Yeah, a lot of younger people love AOC, no question. It's a definite cause for concern. Reactionary old folk teetering towards their dotage seem to like MTG, for some reason. I'm not sure whether anybody here will stand up for her. People still voted for her, which is weird. They didn't just vote for her, they elected her. Now, go look at why. Fringe populism. Pretty much the same thing that got AOC elected.

@doctor-phibes said in "Papers, please," at Fox: @jolly said in "Papers, please," at Fox: I can tell the nay-sayers here never watch FOX. I've never heard any of the on-air talent tell people not to get vaccinated. Never. That's not what the article is about. It's about their "top talent" being very critical of the use of Covid passports, and Fox implementing a voluntary declaration process, which is half-way to exactly that. Voluntary is different from mandatory. Private business is different from public conveyance.

I dunno. How about some nitro in the tube frame, motion sensor and a detonator?

I’m disappointed that the authorization is only for emergency use. Seems like people don’t like regulations?

@jolly said in Tile like an Egyptian...: $20/tile. They say a square metre of tiles is about $30. That must be way less than $20 per tile.

Well, let's see. You have hundreds of young, healthy, fit people with big egos. They're by and large single and are going to mingle. To even attempt to discourage it is folly.

Yes! I selected Washington, DC 450 million years ago. Here's what I got: "Silurian Period. A mass extinction took place, wiping out nearly half of marine invertebrate species. The first land plants emerge, starting at the edge of the ocean. Plants evolve vascularity, the ability to transport water and nutrients through their tissues. Ocean life becomes larger and more complex, and some creatures venture out of reefs and onto land." And lo, they were called politicians.

The funniest part of the article is the guy is writing as though he's this storied old veteran of the music-buying public, but he bought his first music in 2001.

The shootout launched Wild Bill’s fame as a gunman. He went on to have a short-lived career as a lawman in Kansas, befriended other renowned figures of the Wild West such as Calamity Jane and Buffalo Bill Cody, became a dime novel hero, married a circus proprietor, and continued his gambling career. Bill, you had me at "married a circus proprietor".

@Aqua-Letifer ours turned 3 in May. We knew we had flights coming up (starting in March 2021) so we got her used to wearing a mask this past winter when went in the condo elevator or in stores. She did well, and she rocked hers (we got some really good/adjustable ones from crayola). Anyway, she ended up doing perfectly on the flights. That being said, we never have her wear one now (now that we’ve moved into a house) and she starts preschool in Sept. My wife and I said we won’t be sending her if they require masks. Not worth the trouble…
