@doctor-phibes He did indeed, however he still one of us by birth. Besides he remains a legal temporary resident of Canada and lives in Toronto. His spouse, the journalist, Barbara Amiel, remained a Canadian citizen.

@george-k said in New Dog: @aqua-letifer said in New Dog: Meanwhile, Major Major Major Major has remained unsuccessful when seeking promotion. “Major Major had been born too late and too mediocre. Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them. With Major Major it had been all three. Even among men lacking all distinction he inevitably stood out as a man lacking more distinction than all the rest, and people who met him were always impressed by how unimpressive he was.” “Congressmen with nothing else on their minds could go trotting back and forth through the streets of Washington, D.C., chanting, “Who promoted Major Major? Who promoted Major Major?” Actually, Major Major had been promoted by an I.B.M. machine with a sense of humor almost as keen as his father’s.” And Henry Fonda.

Or, as would happen down here, they may not make it back to their vehicles without bowed and bloody heads. Which is better than going into a Muslim community, parading around that figure as Mohammed. In that instance, they might meet Saran sooner than they wish.

I read a book a while ago (and I think i mentioned it in the old book thread on the old forum). It was about the last Union and South soldier from the Civil War. I actually thought the book was not very good, but the summary of the book was that both of the "last" surviving solders from the North and South were probably lying.

Kind of like saying that "98% of people who have passed away in the last year had eaten corn at some point"

No, here the Board of Education does not get to hold any “private meeting”. Every board meeting has a non-public session where certain personnel/disciplinary issues are being dealt with. But never an entire meeting that is closed to the public. Socially, the board members are careful to not have too many of them attending the same event less they accidentally make quorum and run afoul of the rule against unplanned/unannounced “meeting.”

We've had the call that we have to wear masks at work in 'common areas'. Another good reason not to mix with the office hoi polloi. I'm going to start closing the office door - I've been waiting for an excuse to do this for 18 years.
