@George-K said in Sue the cops: It’s my understanding that the police are under no legal obligation to protect you. Actually the only public servant expected to risk their lives in the line of duty are military. Others, like police or fire fighters, are understood to have jobs that place them in riskier situations, but they are explicitly not expected to make conscious decisions that put their lives at risk in order to save someone else.

It's the identity theft that's addressed by the article. What a nightmare for the person who has angry strangers showing up at their home wanting their new puppy or other merchandise. That's scary.

First PzH2000s have also been delivered today. From what I understand, that's a quite decent and modern piece of artillery. https://twitter.com/oleksiireznikov/status/1539225560588734466

It’s interesting how we got to watch differences in belief in free speech play out in our history at the piano forums. Some people prefer moderation by an authority, some don’t. And as it turns out, that preference is correlated with political preference. I know, shocking. Oh, and the corollary to comedians actually caring about free speech, is that people with no senses of humor can be trusted not to care too much. I hope there's no further questions which political side is currently the attractant for old buttoned down humorless mainstreamers.

Had to look up a couple of what you listed. Zorb seems pretty cool I have roller skied before. Lots of fun. So, since I have tried it, I would recommend it.

@Larry said in Who here thinks this stops at Ukraine?: The US is sending fighter jets to Poland to let Ukrainian pilots go to Poland and fly them back into Ukraine. Whether you agree with doing that or not, that is the US getting directly involved in a hot war with Russia. Also, since Poland is also a NATO member, this brings NATO into the war. This act alone makes NATO and the US both direct participants in a hot war between Russia and Ukraine, and now it's WWIII. Maybe it does according to Newsmax or RT, but not by the many decades of Cold War historical precedent. We armed each other’s enemies all the time.

Well, it is true that a blond hair blue eye girl victim will get a lot more newspaper articles than others. The US is still a majority "European" country, so stories that involve that type of person will get more coverage. In 100 years from now, the majority of the people are Spanish, probably stories that involve that type of person will get more coverage. But, there are a lot of things that people in the US get all excited about and would probably be surprised that people in other parts of the world don't really care. Just like people in the US don't get excited about some other stories from overseas, especially if it doesn't fit the group that I talked about above.

@Axtremus said in Sixteen: It’s a reasonable framework to lower the voting age and raise the gun buying age. The impact of an individual vote is, in almost all circumstances, not as consequential as the firing of a gun in uncontrolled/unsupervised environment. An 18-year old, even when rash, simply cannot do as much damage with a vote than with a gun. From that perspective, it is quite reasonable to set the voting age lower than gun ownership age. What is your preferred voting age Ax, and how do you arrive at that number?

@Jolly said in The Children's Baby Doll Procession: @George-K said in The Children's Baby Doll Procession: Because nothing says "Support Abortion RIghts" better than parading with fake blood in your crotch and baby dolls. That'll earn a lot of sympathy, The only thing missing was pussy hats and a rant from Madonna. Who would let their 14-16 year-old daughter do something like this? Any tribal lefty would be proud of them.
