It's not quite the same now, but the regular police still aren't armed, by and large. Obviously, that's never going to work in the US, but it's still quite surprising, and also interesting is that the majority of British police officers don't want to be armed.

Unrelated, but kind of related reply... this reminds me of how farmers keep getting more and more efficient by producing more out of the same land, using technology, etc. For example, corn farmers and bushels per acre... keep increasing in order to break even or make a profit. But at some point... you can only squeeze so much juice of out of a lemon.

Speaking of cackleberries... We're busy with snap beans right now, so supper was eggs, sausage and biscuits. The sausage came out of the smokehouse yesterday, the eggs were less than a week old and the strawberry jam was from a batch we made last week. Fresh is better...

I have spent hundreds of hours with Halo. I have the full Master Chief collection on XBox and last year bought the Master Chief Collection for PC. I still have the original Combat Evolved working on the PC, it starts up instantly unlike the new version. If I remember correctly the sequel and 2nd sequel stopped working on the PC.
