Hmm, a bit too early to say I think. I will admit that i have only been following the situation there from the major news stories and dont have any background, but I am not sure what could have/should have been done differently to this point.

(I do know that Taiwan is watching this with great interest to see how the western powers react to an invasion)

I've worked with the CDC a couple of times on a small research project - a completely different department from this, but still.... I found the people there to be extremely careful, possibly to a fault, and very willing to learn, but with a distinct tendency to get lost in the weeds.

I was on a plane once, there was only two open seats, one next to me and one across the aisle next to another guy.

All of a sudden, this extremely heavy guy starts walking down the aisle. I catch eyes with the guy across the aisle, and we both know we are thinking the same thing, "please dont sit next to me! Please dont sit next to me!"
