@jon-nyc said in What was Joe doing in Ukraine on Jan 17, 2017?: But that doesn’t sound nearly as ominous as ‘he broke all precedent, leaving his last week, just to go to Ukraine!!!’ Apparently he went on the trip to do good. https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/01/joe-biden-foreign-policy/513758/ As President Obama remarked when awarding Joe Biden the most distinguished of all American civilian awards, the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction, Biden has a habit of quoting his mother or father with some folksy aphorism. He’s told me, for example, “My dad used to say to me: ‘Champ, if everything is equally important to you, nothing is important to you.’” I imagined another Bidenesque aphorism for the moment, that sounded like something his parents might say. “Joey, there’s always a chance to do good and be good. Always a chance, even at the very last moment, to do good.” As Air Force Two approached Andrews Joint Base, the airport the President and Vice President use to fly in and out of Washington, Biden told me he’d spent the last several hours making calls to and having long conversations with five major world leaders. Squeezing it in. Always a chance to do good.

Sure, add the new image standards for truth to the current truth standards.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to the Pats and the Bucs now though. It has the potential to greatly shift the relative reputations of Belichick and Brady.

@George-K said in Important Mother’s Day question.: The longer Mike's around, the more I'm convinced that he's really a good, good, soul. I know he is. I can tell. It's a mom power kind of thing.

Today on one news website that I looked at, it said that Jerry Stiller Is Dead. I don't like how they worded that. I think it would have been more appropriate for them to say that Jerry Stiller Has Passed Away instead.

I’m a little surprised he’d let bad numbers out. But maybe if he’s in the range on a per capita basis he’s not going to censor.

We are down to about 3 new a day in Ohio. I expect to see that rise sharply soon.

I just filled out the questionnaire at Walgreens. I answered "no" to all the questions except: "Are you diabetic?" Well, technically I am. Well controlled on diet (A1C is consistently less than 5.7). So I said yes. "Have you been in an area where there has been community spread of the virus?" My town has had 56 cases, including one at the grocery where I shopped recently, so I said yes. I qualify for testing.

I've heard that family members can't visit their loved ones who reside in nursing homes thanks to the coronavirus. That's hard for the residents as well as their family members who want to visit each other.

MainerMike, you come across as such a nice guy, I would have stood up to the bullies for you if we were kids together. With some exceptions, I had a great childhood. Like many, I did some really stupid and dangerous things, lucky to have lived through the really boneheaded stuff. Lucky I wasn't caught. I'd say being a kid, compared to being an adult, was easier. I didn't have to worry about food, clothing, place to live, etc. Curious what others may think in looking back.

@George-K said in Another treatment?: Take Tylenol for fever. That was the big thing early on... All the warnings about Ibuprofen. Was there ever an official determination about the efficacy and/or risk from Ibuprofen?

Anyway, good luck, man. Like I said before, because of my FIL's situation, I think you've many reasons to be optimistic, no matter what happens.

This sounds really stupid, but it's definitely true for me: when people (oh let's just say my pathological co-workers) piss me off, staying calm and pleasant because it's the Christian thing to do is almost entirely ineffective for me. But if I can find a way to fully empathize with them, even if I disagree and think they're terrible humans, I can keep from getting pissed. Their actions may be disgusting, but at least they make sense, they're understandable. I don't know why that douses the fuse, but very often times it does.

Good time to be looking at what is and is not really necessary on all levels. The higher the level the more unnecessary programs. Ohio has already started instituting cuts at all levels. Washington is now talking about printing more money. They never learn.
