The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Is the first part of that really true? Seems odd that wouldn't be allowed.

@89th I've had this conversation with several OBs. None would do a hysterectomy.

Now, a tubal ligation for sterilization is done often enough, and, in theory, it's reversible - though an egg harvest is an easier thing to do.

But, if I were a woman, with never wanting to have children, I don't see why a hysterectomy would be off the table - it's a useless organ, and a PITA monthly.

Yes, insurances generally won’t cover an optional hysterectomy in the US, and in Government Run Healthcare programs I bet it is an outright no.

Interesting. I have a (29-year old) coworker who just had her 2nd kid and I know the doctor made sure she was "really really really sure" before getting the tubes tied. I never thought about it, figured once you're 18 you have the right to get snipped or tied if you want.

@89th every c-section I've done which included a tubal ligation always included the question "OK - We're going to tie the tubes now, are you 100% certain that you're done having kids? One. HUNDRED. Percent?

              Dad? Do you agree?"

              Every single time.

But, tying the tubes is far less invasive than a hysterectomy - which is a major surgical procedure.

I wonder what would be the procedure if a, say, 21 year old "woman" decided that she now identifies as a male and wants to have her uterus removed. Would that "gender-affirming" surgery be allowed?

                No doubt…

The logic is pretty obvious, though. You’re a bigot and need to be shut up.

Now we've come full circle regarding whether public schools are teaching the basics. They are. Logic is fundamental, and the schools are actively developing curricula to teach the logical underpinnings of sitting down and shutting up.

                  Education is extremely important.

Here’s one - if an 18 year old isn’t old enough to make a decision about taking on student debt, what other major decisions can’t they make?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
