    Watched the first three episodes.

Not bad. Nice characters. Good action.

The most annoying aspect of it is the music. Awful blues.

Also on Dorothy Parker and Coolidge:

Parker is attending a dinner party with Coolidge and others. She says to Coolidge, "Mr. President, I made a bet with friends that I could get you to say more than two words."

    Coolidge replied, "You lose."

I very seldom agree with anything in The Atlantic, but this one resonates. Mandel is the emptiest of suits. All he has is ambition and shamelessness.

GMail has this feature called “scheduled send” …

    Try to keep up, man.

Except if you do this, even though the recipient will get it at 3:17am, the actual message will show the timestamp of when you clicked the schedule/send button. I think... last time I tried. 🙂

Doesn't for me.Do you use Gmail or something else?

The one time I tested this was using Outlook. Hey, why did it lightning/thunder outside right when I said that?

    Funny you should post this...

Had one my more favorite docs walk into the lab on Saturday. Guy is in his 70's, former triathlete, former general surgeon, does ER work now. Looks like an eagle with the surgeon Type A personality.

Needed a favor, an off-books D -Dimer, cardiacs and a blue plate special. He woke up that morning in A-fib, called a cardiologist friend and now he just wanted to make sure he didn't have a clot before starting on some Cardizem.

    Hope it works for him.

I kind of go back and forth on the death penalty. I absolutely do NOT think it stops people from doing crime. But, there are some people, like Jolly says, who cannot be rehibilitate.

But, costs for someone who is sentenced to death is huge, and since living in prison is not very attractive, maybe just let them have life in prison.

    🤷

    I dont know.

Maybe we can contract to do them on The Farm. We're pretty cheap down here.

    Good question.

I know she goes into a pianist pool. She stressed that with her health, she can be unreliable, but that didn't seem to bother them. If she's contract, I'll consider her self-employed and setup my taxes that way.

    If she's part-time, I'll check on my discount. 😄

That was absolutely me. Just a couple of differences:

It was today, not yesterday. It wasn't in DC. It was a beamer, not a truck.

Motherfucker almost hit a woman with a stroller and two parked cars because he didn't want to deal with the anguish of being behind a bicycle. (I was going 32 in a 25.)

Take any social situation, I don't care what it is. In that situation, upper-middle class people who think they're upper class are going to be the worst.

Much higher than 90%. But yes.

In the post civil war era “civil service reform” was one of the main political themes. Prior to that the president appointed just about everyone. Even local post masters at literally every US post office.

We even had a president get assassinated by a frustrated office seeker. That probably tipped the balance toward reform.

(I like travelogues and travel guides, but it is interesting on how they have changed over the years)

@Jolly I use Straight Talk, which for $35/month is unlimited talk/text and more data than I ever use.

Thanks, Jolly. I've bookmarked this, for use in the extremely unlikely event I will figure out how to use the phone.

I totally disagree with the video.

If anything, we will see a "return of the digital". By that I mean computation with symbols, like in classical programming and logic. This is opposed to the neural network / deep learning stuff, which is basically simulating analog things with digital circuits.

There's recently been an interesting article that explains my point in much greater detail.
