@LuFins-Dad said in "Lay off the white folks first.": I still fail to see the fundamental difference with Affirmative Action… At a certain level of resolution they’re the same - present discrimination to achieve certain group outcomes. But I think the method of discrimination is perceived differently. To not get promoted is one thing, to get fired is another.

Just as an aside, France and the Netherlands have now outlawed mail-in voting.

Very weird. I used to throw trash down the compactor chute in a previous tall condo building and even then I'd be a little nervous if my kid was nearby. I wonder if the fall killed him or the compactor. Ugh.

Rumor has it the coach yelled for the pistol offense before switching to shotgun.

@taiwan_girl said in Samsung - corruption, bribery, presidential pardon: The "chaebols" (which is the name for the big industrial corporations in Korea) control so much of the economy. In a different world where the USA never enacted the Sherman Antitrust Act, the chokehold of "chaebols" may be the fate of the USA too.

I rarely nap these days (although I wish I could), but it's 50/50 if I feel great when I wake up or if I feel groggy. Either way, I suspect it's quite healthy to have a regular nap each day.

At least he didn't say he "fell on it." The problem with many of these "foreign bodies" is that once they're up there, a couple of things can happen. The rectal sphincter tightens and spasms, and it just won't "let go." The other thing is that a "suction" or "vacuum" effect occurs above the item preventing easy retrieval. If you can get a catheter passed up beyond the item, that breaks the suction and makes extraction easier. OTOH, sometimes, you just gotta chew it up... They're great catfish bait. They don't slip off the hook like livers.
