The article says 8 hours. You could easily have a couple of beers at the lobby bar, get your 8hrs sleep in, and fly the next day. This guy sounds like he went from the bar to the airport.

@blondie said in Pay the congestion fee or...: @Doctor-Phibes I used to commute between Halifax and Boston. I remember Boston being a place having super classy and kind of sketchy neighborhoods. I used to take the trains from the airport to a stop which bisected Roxbury (sketchy) and Jamaica Plain (older, kind of nice). I’m sure I’ve told this story before, but one of my last trips I was carting a heavy hockey type bag on my back packed with text books, clothes, computer parts (I was storing stuff, prepping to move to Alabama). That train stop had graffiti, gang markings for about 2 blocks uphill into Jamaica Plain (by that I mean all the phone booths were shot up useless & houses windows, doors were barred). Anyway, I was wearing an anorak with side pockets and was balancing this heavy duffle on my back getting off the stairs at the station. This sketchy looking guy wearing orange pants and a hoodie approaches and won’t let me pass. He says “Hey, what do you got? I need money to fix a flat tire.” Scared, I was too weighed down & buckled up just to drop my big bag and run. I had both hands together in my pocket. So I reach deep in there and with both hands pull out about $20 in Canadian Loonies and showed it to him. He says, “What IS that? GOLD?” And I say, “Well, yeah. Take it.” And he did and scurried off. I should keep some Loonies handy, we've got a bag full of foreign money of various types Roxbury's still a bit sketchy, but Boston as a whole is pretty good by American city standards.

@taiwan_girl said in New Glenn: @Copper Sounds cool. Let's know how you like it! @89th That sounds cool also. I think a market for the goggles will also be live concerts and sporting events where you can purchase a ticket to "be there" but not really there. Totally. There is an app where you can be courtside for NBA games but I don’t care about basketball at all but the execution is amazing. It’s nearly the same thing as the $20k seat cost in person.

Guess I'll stop opening this thread. Ugh. Reminds me of a friend of my wife who visited a few months ago and kept opening her phone to be like "Oh man, this angers me, did you see the story about this child who was killed (or other dark news stories)" and I straight up told her, just stop reading the news that has no impact on your life!!!!!!!

Ah yes very cool! Get ready to spend an hour on something as this reminds me of two videos worth watching. The first analyzes John Williams' score for the Olympics (and how it was inspired/stolen from previous "Charge" battle and bugle calls. Link to video The 2nd and 3rd is back to First Man and how the docking scene "waltz" was inspired by 2001 Space Odyssey / Blue Danube. It's the only track in the First Man soundtrack that deviates from the theme to provide a completely separate sound during the movie, very effectively too as it starts around the 1:20 mark to provide relief "space dancing" right after a tense and bumpy launch sequence and search for the Agena to dock. Also fun fact, in the control room is Neil Armstrong's actual son playing one of the NASA engineers. Link to video Link to video

Who is paying for all these pardons? The president wouldn't be giving them away. Of course we pay for them eventually.
