@taiwan_girl said in The War on Appliances: We talked about this with refrigerators. Are A/C units worse now than they were 50 years ago even though they are much more efficient? Same for heaters? Same for refrigerators? Yes, because they're no longer in some households. They're in every household.

@Jolly said in The Sequel That Wasn't: Is it a Top 10 SciFi movie? Googlng around "best sci-fi movies" gives several interesting lists. More than one says that "2001" is the greatest of all time. Rotten Tomatoes rates this one at #95. https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/essential-sci-fi-movies-of-all-time/ Interesting how everyone seems to agree that Alien, Inception, The Matrix, 2001, Blade Runner are consistently up there.

@Mik said in It's hard to give away money.: Apparently has been for quite some time. I'm nowhere near this level, but I do my homework before I give money to organizations. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/personalfinance/elon-musk-joins-long-list-of-billionaires-who-ve-said-giving-away-money-is-hard-including-andrew-carnegie/ar-AA1aWQZ7?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=bce17f1362c04a089f669ce44e709e8b&ei=15 It is a good thought exercise. I have thought about how I would handle giving away lots of money and it would be a lot of work. I was reading an article about Jeff Bezo wife, who has been doing that. I believe that her philosophy is kind of just random donations directly to people/organizations, etc. Hard to do.
