For some weird reason I've been getting a load of recommendations to watch videos about Liberace recently on YouTube. I hate to think what the algorithm is dredging up about me, and responding to this thread probably isn't going to help.

@89th said in Celebrating Life: Overall a good idea. I can see how it might become "noise" though, if the church is large enough, you might be having a baby shower once a week. Also it could be tough on those women struggling with infertility, which is a higher percentage than most folks think. Just nit picking though. In general this makes sense for the reasons laid out in the article. In this case, the inclusion of infertile women is not germaine.

Biden shreds any claim to being a president who could put the public interest ahead of petty politics For my recent memory, at least 50%+ of decisions by recent presidents fall under this

@George-K May be a bit late, and I mentioned this in the What Are You Reading Thread but she may enjoy the Sean Duffy series of police novels.

Assimilation (or lack of) works on both sides. Go to any Asian country, and if there are a group of foreign expats there, good chance that they will seek out western restaurants, go to western style bars, buy western style groceries, and in many cases, not learn the local language. But, this is somewhat of an unfair compare, becuase most of these people are not true immigrants, but retiring people and not really any chance that they (or their families) will be there for many generations. Also but, in the defense of the expat, no matter how long they live in a foreign country (speaking mainly of Asia), they are never really "part" of the country. They will always be looked at as a foreigner.

If they cap the rates then presumably we'll just have to pay in some other way. They're not going to stop lending money to poor people.
