@george-k sometimes u need to to open the engine, remove the piston from the cylinder, empty out any residual fluids accumulating in the cylinder, and check carefully for cracks in the cylinder which can be caused by too much stress and overheating, or lack of enough lubricating oil coating the cylinder thus making the action of the piston uneven and even destructive, causing the whole engine not to function smoothly. This instrument allows the mechanic to inspect all aspects of the cylinder to see if all is well, sometimes the whole cylinder should be rebored and made functional again,,although at this point the mechanic may suggest to the driver to replace they cylinder altogether with a newer model, and avoid the coast of a rebuild, or refurbish which is never as good as a the original part.
