If Russia agrees to ceasefire proposal:

Ideally, Moscow would prefer to delay the meeting for as long as possible to maximize potential concessions from Washington in exchange for Russia halting military actions in Ukraine.

"Time is on the Kremlin’s side," sources told The Moscow Times. However, officials also recognize the need to "seize the moment” and balance Trump’s push for a swift ceasefire with broader geopolitical and domestic considerations.

“One scenario under discussion is a meeting around Easter [Orthodox Easter falls on April 20],” a Russian diplomat told The Moscow Times. Another senior Russian official confirmed this possibility.

Anyone with more knowledge know how to make heads/tails of the latest ceasefire?

I’m seeing that it’s a partial ceasefire, only on energy infrastructure, Russia recently (after the convo?) attacked energy infrastructure, Zelensky says he’s open to a partial ceasefire, I’m sure I’m missing a few other facts.

I don’t know what it all amounts to. Is it normal for all of this to be done in the open like this?

Last I read Putin had said he needs to see all international aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine stopped and then he can maybe sorta discuss a ceasefire.

                Only non-witches get due process.

I thought he did agree to a partial ceasefire. But yeah - I would think they’d want to arm Ukraine to the gills during a pause.

Ok - apparently Putin specifically hit civilian infrastructure with drones after the ceasefire talk. This is coming from Zelensky - but assuming this is true… that’s a pretty loud signal

                      Still early to tell.

But what I am hearing is saying that Zelenskyi made Trump an offer last week that amounts to an end run on Putin. It’s beginning to come clear as there are indications that the US will become the owner of the Ukrainian energy grid throughout the country. That means US has total ownership of all Ukrainian nuclear power plants, electrical and possibly oil and gas infrastructure- not sure about the o&g.

Let’s see how this plays out, I doubt very much that the initiative came from the US side. The chatter I receive suggests Kyiv, Warsaw and Helsinki. But, time will tell. It flys right into Putin’s face. I hope it does, the bastard has no intention to negotiate anything.

If it works then Trump might have to share that Nobel with Zekenskyi, who probably came up with the idea in the first place.

Appears that I spoke too soon about the Ukrainian power grid:

Trump said the United States could own and run Ukraine’s nuclear power plants, the latest in a series of proposals he has made to the war-torn country, reliant on Washington’s support to fend off the Russian invasion.

“We will not discuss it. We have 15 nuclear power units in operation today. This all belongs to our state,” Zelensky told a news conference in Oslo, where he held talks with Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.

He said the nuclear plants legally belonged to the Ukrainian people but that Kyiv was open to US investment once Ukraine got back control of the Zaporizhzhia plant, seized by Russian troops at the start of the war.

“If they want to take it back from the Russians, if they want to modernize it, invest – this is a different question, this is an open question, we can talk about it,” Zelensky added.

                        https://www.kyivpost.com/post/49297

President Volodymyr Zelensky said on March 19 that he had discussed with U.S. President Donald Trump the possibility of U.S. assistance in restoring the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest nuclear facility in Europe, currently under Russian occupation.

"Water supply, technical staff, and many more steps to ensure that in a year and a half to two and a half, the plant starts to bring money and electricity to people. This is my vision," Zelensky said during a Zoom briefing for journalists.

@Renauda I would be pleasantly surprised to see the Russians handing over Zaporizha to the Americans without any restriction.

Although an extreme long shot, I don’t think it is entirely out of the question. Time will tell, depends how badly Putin wants this to end.

I remain unconvinced of any sincere desire by Kremlin to concede any of its maximalist terms regarding Ukraine’s future.
