It's been four years... are we great again?

If you look at what Trump was able to accomplish in the first 2-3 years of his presidency, it's actually pretty impressive to any conservative. Unfortunately he completely fumbled the pandemic, and his attempts to undermine a free and fair election he lost has completely turned him into likely the single worst president in history. So the short answer to your question is a resounding no.

I had decided I was gone. I made the mistake of opening this thread, and what you wrote is so stupid I have to respond. Then I likely won't ever come here again, and I don't mind telling you that after literally YEARS of taking shots from all sorts of people, it is you and your stupid bull headedness that has caused me to just fucking give up on this place.

No, Trump did NOT fumble the pandemic. And I'm fucking sick of you repeating that bull shit. The pandemic that got fumbled was the H1N1 virus that even Obama's own people have said it was just sheer dumb luck that it wound down on it's own. Trump cleared the way for coming up with a vaccine in less than a year, the fastest ANYZ vaccine has ever been done. So stop with the bull shit.

Second, I'm sorry, but the election was STOLEN. Yes, Trump overplayed his hand at his last rally and a small group of bad actors showed their ass, and stained his presidency. But he fact remains that Biden did NOT win by legal votes, the election WAS stolen, so fuck you. Lastly, and then you can have the place - this time next year after a year of democrat rule you'll wish you'd never heard of Joe Biden.

Ok, I was wrong. Might not be the worst president in history, but is probably in the top 4 along with Fillmore, Buchanan, and Harrison (Benjamin, not William).

                C'mon, man! I'm on a roll!

In all seriousness, the TDS shit had hit a crescendo not long before that. Look at Jon's post count. Look at 89th's stuff. And a couple of others. If you supported Trump or even if you were on the fence, you were faced with a wall of shit everyday.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's well within the rules of the place. The only thing that is amusing, are the folks that show up during a political donnybrook, and then you don't see them again for years.

Nature of the beast, I guess...

I think that the saying - "the total is more than each individual piece" is correct for TNCR.

The nice thing about this place is the variety of opinions and philosophies here. Anybody who leaves here causes a loss for everybody here.

So no, I dont think that @Larry is/was more important than @89th When said "coherently", both have been great additions to the board.

Larry posted a lot of interesting stuff but also alot of mean stuff. Sometimes it was quite difficult to see past the mean stuff to see the interesting stuff.

Look at Fat Shirley's. Supposedly, it's the board that @Larry owns. He hasn't posted there in months...years?

AFAICT, there are about....3 active users there. I breeze by every day and see nothing new and walk away.

ETA: I really miss a lot of the old folks from "back then." It's great to see @jodi , @taiwan_girl and others more active. I just hope it doesn't end.

Ok, so who was more important to this place, you or Larry?

I think that the saying - "the total is more than each individual piece" is correct for TNCR.

The nice thing about this place is the variety of opinions and philosophies here. Anybody who leaves here causes a loss for everybody here.

So no, I dont think that @Larry is/was more important than @89th When said "coherently", both have been great additions to the board.

Larry posted a lot of interesting stuff but also alot of mean stuff. Sometimes it was quite difficult to see past the mean stuff to see the interesting stuff.

Not getting into a pissing match, but just pointing out some cold, hard facts...Participation drives boards like this. The less participation you have, the sooner they wither and die. Nothing against you, Opti, Friday, 89th or several others, but if the board suddenly lost Jon, George, Mik, Copper, Ax, Phibes and myself, you could turn off the lights. Same for just about any place when it comes to core groups...Look across the fence and ask yourself how long they would survive in any interesting form, if wtg, Steve Miller, Quirt and Nina all decided to head for the exits.

I agree with this. This place obviously thrives off of the primary activity of a number of you, and I hope Larry comes back.

That being said, he left for his own reasons. If you re-read my posts, I think they’re pretty logical and calm…and don’t come even remotely close to the intensity we’ve seen in previous debates over the past 10-20 years.

You implied I (and others?) only became active recently to bash Trump, which isn’t true. I returned in Feb 2020 when COVID allowed me to work from home more whereas my job since 2012 has prevented access to forum-related sites, which (combined with getting married and having kids) really hindered my activity here.

Sure, the main news stories of 2020 resulted in discussions about how I thought Trump fumbled the pandemic, and also clearly lost the election in a landslide, and spewed enough lies that resulted in the Jan 6th chaos. To be frank, many of those replies were to counter positions you and Larry held about the election results. I also said repeatedly I thought Trump did a number of great things for conservatives during his tenure, too. My positions, IMO, are not driven by political party stances, but are pretty independent in nature. I’d be saying the same thing whether it was Obama or Trump in office.

Anyway… as I said before I hope Larry returns. With my recent move to MN behind me, I hope to become more regularly active here and to add some value to this special place.

Do it tomorrow, I don't give a shit.

This board stopped being about the board, and the people within it started becoming more important for me a long, long time ago. If this platform went dark for good tomorrow, I still have plenty of ways to stay in contact with the folks who make this place what it is for me.

                                        Please love yourself.
