Jon, it would be worth getting the additional shots. My completely unprofessional advice is that it shouldn't hurt you, and it might be the only way to build immunity. I wish you the best results as you go forward, and it's great you have excellent professional support for your options.

Well the response is dose dependent so something like that. The problem is no institution will do that today except as part of a registered clinical trial.

I’ll likely do it my own sneaky way at some point. Keep in mind there’s still hope for a B-cell and T-cell response.

That piece in science says they saw some improvement after dose 2 and that their data will be out shortly.

Didn’t realize that the vaccine efficacy data look so grim for transplant survivors on immunosuppressants. Here’s hoping for robust T-cell and B-cell responses for this population.

By the way, the UK announced they’ll be offering a 3rd shot to over-50s in the fall. That makes me feel more comfortable going “off-label” and securing a 3rd and possibly a 4th shot.

Jon, are you getting the same Pfizer shot, or have you considered mixing them up? I heard a discussion on the radio the other day that there's a theory that using different vaccines could increase their effectiveness. For obvious reasons, it's not something that was tested in development.

Thought about Moderna and discussed it with a few docs. They thought a Pfizer booster would be better.

The theory is that two different vaccines is a bit like showing your immune systems two different profiles of the same face. It made sense to my totally uneducated brain, but those damn doctors probably know better.

Well, they just thought that, since the Pfizer response is dose dependent, it would be the most straightforward way.
