You can't deny that infection rates are on the rise some places, enough to be worrisome. As much as I want everything to open back up, vaccination rates are not there yet.
How much extra tax are you willing to pay to keep things closed? You will be funding this.
It seems to me that in the US, the problem is is that the people are are "advocate" the most to open things up NOW, are the same people that are not willing to do the things necessary to allow that to happen.
(mask wearing, social distancing, etc.)
There's a word for those people.
A good word or a bad word?
After a year there is still no concept of a limit or a goal.
There is no way to measure the harm caused by the pandemic, and no way to measure the harm caused to closed businesses and no way to measure the harm caused to children with no social contact.
Just insults
Wear a mask or be stupid
Why? What is the goal? Are we getting closer to the goal? Does them mask really do anything?
All great questions, there is a word for those people with the sense to question the idiots and it is not an insult.
Whatever.

I know what the goal is where I live.
I also support it and follow the public health directives accordingly. In fact I probably exercise more caution than is even asked of me.
I know a few people who question the directives and broadcast their dissenting voice far and wide. Some even say the whole pandemic is a fraud and is not really happening. I have a gerund and noun combination for them and have said it to their face. Yes, it was insulting. I really don't care if they ever speak to me again. They are dead to me.
So, what is the goal where you live?
Secondly, what if the goal cannot be reached?
Minimize transmission so as not to crash the public health care system. Despite some the lacksadasical decisions and policies of our provincial government during the second wave in late fall and early winter, we have achieved that and continue to do so. We are prepared to stay this course for at least until year end.
I trust you have no problem with our success in managing our own affairs in this matter?

You know what's weird? After a year of wearing a mask in public I've never once considered that! I just do what the liberals tells me! And they tell me restaurants are evil and must be punished! Don't buy them takeout!

We love it too when you speak in Bean-counterese. It's so sexy!

@catseye3 Fun tibit - cardboard box manufacturing is a highly regional industry. Because of the slim margin on boxes, it doesn't make sense to make them centrally and ship them around the world (ahead of being used).
P.S. definitions of "fun" vary person to person

Speaking of bean-counters - my son works in a department store, and they allocate the hours based on the payroll allocated by central office. Central office allocate the monthly payroll based on the turnover from the previous year. So this month, it was completely in the toilet, so they didn't call any staff in, so the poor bastards who are working are completely overwhelmed.
A moron with a computer is a dangerous thing.

I was going to say, "Indeed, just look at....."
But then I realized I'd offend too many people here.

The really dumb ones wouldn't realise you meant them.
You did mean 'them', right? RIGHT?????

As is a bean counter in charge of public health policy.

Every Monday morning I am in a manager meeting where we go over activity for the past week and compare to prior year... This week I might have caused a bit of a ruckus by asking why we were comparing this week vs this week last year, and perhaps we should compare with 19? And that for the next three months, comparisons might be pointless.
