Trump Senate defense: the American people already rejected me

Oh, and Trump was somewhat responsible for the attack, but so was a lot of those that voted for or against impeachment. He bears some more individual responsibility but less than they do in aggregate.

Attack, what attack? We have it on impeccable authority that it was just a few doofuses taking selfies.
Move along, nothing to see.

What words would you use to describe what happened?

A few come to mind. Given the make up of the mob, I'll settle for Putsch. I may be wrong but I also may be right. I really don't care.

Putsch
"a violent attempt to overthrow a government"
You previously disavowed insurrection and coup. I sense some cognitive dissonance.

You care enough to make fun of the "a few doofuses taking selfies" characterization. At least a couple times that I've seen.

From an historical perspective, can you compare this putsch with other historical putsch attempts? Is there an historical analogue to establish that this was a "putsch"?
jon, you're up here too. You're an amazing historian.

If what happened on 6 January can be falsely reduced to a few doofuses taking selfies it can just as easily and, inaccurately, be inflated into a putsch.
Besides, it's fun to mock doofuses.

It was definitely a few doofuses taking selfies in the Capitol, having entered through the unguarded doors.
What's really sad is that the police weren't motivated to do their jobs, due to the precedent established by left-leaning pop culture and its condemnation of any law enforcement action against the BLM riots in 2020.

Thank you Renauda. I am waiting for the rest of the forum to line up with that sentiment. Then my project here will be complete.

It was surreal to watch the lack of outrage over that. A neighborhood taken over by a violent leftist mob, the police fleeing because they knew they could not do their jobs. Who the fuck said anything? Some here even made fun of those who thought it was a big deal. Leftists are fucked in the head.

Remember the stories of how women were being raped and attacked and the police couldn't do anything? But that doesn't compare to some dude sitting in Pelosi's chair...

I don’t see any healing going on. It’s all about revenge. Just remember that for the future, it’s being written as we speak.

If they had only busted a few heads.
Mr. Trump would be receiving the Peace Prize.
And the doofuses would be heroic martyrs.

A representative should reflect the views and desires of his constituency. That's what they are elected to do.

The $1.9T economic stimulus bill enjoys support from 70% of Americans, yet every single Republican legislator voted against it.
