I thought her poem during today's ceremony was really fantastic. She delivered it confidently, too. Here's the transcript but please, don't read it. Go watch it on youtube or something.

Update, here is the video via Twitter:

It was very nice. One of my team members was super pumped about this - they went to school together.

The message was wonderful, appropriate, and a joy to listen to.

As for the poetry as poetry itself:

          1. Of all the rhetorical, literary, linguistic, and phonetic tools at her disposal, she chooses only a small handful and tries to prop up the vacancy with the importance of the message. (Warning: this is quite obviously a deliberate trap I've tried to spring on you.)
          2. Pro tip: being performative while reciting poetry is like hiring loose women to run your merch booth after the concert. You wouldn't have to do it if the product actually had any music to it.

This isn't intended to detract from her excellent performance and no I'm not a racist.

          Please love yourself.

Ah, white American men have never known in their lives what it is to climb any hills. I guess the other people need to be taught, by others, what it is to climb hills.

              Education is extremely important.

I guess we all know how stupid it is to declare "white men" the captains of the universe. I mean we're just who we know, and we compete with who we know.

Personally, of course I'm special, having grown up among Vietnam's people.

When I'm elected President, or Pope, or whatever it is, the poems read out are going to be really dirty limericks.

                      I was only joking

I’ll just lead all the attendees through a round of The Scotsman.

                          https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2021/03/11/amanda-gorman-white-translator-spain/

Translator Victor Obiols told AFP on Wednesday that Univers had commissioned him last month to translate Gorman’s work into Catalan, a language spoken in Spain and Andorra. After he completed the job, the publishing house informed him he “was not the right person,” he said.

                          .
“They told me that I am not suitable to translate it,” Obiols told AFP. “They did not question my abilities, but they were looking for a different profile, which had to be a woman, young, activist and preferably Black.”
                          ...
Earlier this month, an author quit a job translating Gorman’s poem into Dutch following objections to their appointment by Dutch publisher Meulenhoff because they were not Black.

This sounds like some condition the owner(s) of the poem might have put on it. If your writing is clear enough to be understood it should be able to be translated by any competent translator. You shouldn't have to speak 'hood to do it.
