    Fuck tolls.
    These are international shipping waters.
I'd rather have a huge area of Iranian land cleared to the east of the waters and made uninhabitable.

And keep bombing the Iranian officials and army wherever they pop up.

I feel the same as the day after the Trading Towers fell or the Gazan terrorists invaded Israel.
Fuck them being in control of world shipping.

Trump's started this war, he'd better have the guts to finish it.
Not that the UK or USA actually need much oil from the area, but I feel very strongly about this defence of the free seas.

I think that’s ultimately the problem. Bibi, for his own reasons, convinced Trump it would be easy and quick. Trump signed up for easy and quick and the pentagons plans for reopening the straight are probably complicated and long.

Not that the UK or USA actually need much oil from the area, but I feel very strongly about this defence of the free seas.

“Energy independence” is something of a myth (except in a blockade scenario). It’s not like we get to live in a world of $40 oil when the strait is closed. And the fact that a few American oil companies are raking it in is small consolation to your average Joe paying $5 at the gas pump.

We are forgetting that the reason all of this is happening is to keep Iran from becoming a nuclear threat. Now, if that was really going to happen, I haven't a clue. (And no one is even coming close to telling the truth about it.) But if it actually was than this closing of the Strait of Hormuz is just a blip.

          Yup.
If all you need is 4% enriched uranium for power plants, why do the Iranians, while also vowing to kill Americans, enrich their uranium in deep secretive bunkers to 60% and more? While also developing long range missile capabilities.

          It's a no brainer.
Something proactive needed to be done.

It's not clear we've done much about that other than delay it and make them even more determined. Solving that problem requires true regime change (you have to kill the king, not wound him). Trump clearly thought they'd do that, announced that as his goal even on the first day of the attacks. The problem is Trump doesn't seem to be wiling to pay the price required to do it, at least once he found out it wasn't going to come cheap.

I'm confident it was happening. I think people misunderstand when Trump or Bibi say 'they were 2 weeks away from a bomb'. That doesn't mean they would have had a bomb in mid-march had we not attacked 2/28. It means they have enough enriched uranium at 60% that, whenever they made the decision to do so, they could further enrich it to 90% in two weeks time. (or however many weeks it was). I think that was generally true and had been for some time, and may still be true. Whatever damage the GBU-57 MOPs did last June, it didn't take out all their stockpiles.

Those ‘blocked assets’ are well over $100B. According to him Trump agreed to this as a condition of the cease fire.

Probably Trump trying to make it look like $100B doesn’t phase him.

Heard an interesting take on the Conflicted podcast by a former Al Qaeda jihadist turned MI6 spy. He said Pakistan was up to mischief in softening the US demands when passing them to Iran, and significantly softening the Iranian demands when passing them to the US.

That would explain the apparent confusion between what the administration says it accepted as the basis for ceasefire negotiations and what the Iranians published (the 10 point list). I just wish the administration would publish the 10 point list it received from the Pakis*.

If the Iranian nuclear threat isn't ended there is no reason for any of this to have happened. The Houthis are bad actors as well as Hezbollah and all the other things Iran has a hand in but those problems most likely could be handled piecemeal locally. The nuclear bomb could be a major problem for Israel and the world for a long long time if not taken care of.

So, there you have it, the meeting went well, most points were agreed to, but the only point that really mattered, NUCLEAR, was not. Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz. At some point, we will reach an “ALL BEING ALLOWED TO GO IN, ALL BEING ALLOWED TO GO OUT” basis, but Iran has not allowed that to happen by merely saying, “There may be a mine out there somewhere,” that nobody knows about but them. THIS IS WORLD EXTORTION, and Leaders of Countries, especially the United States of America, will never be extorted. I have also instructed our Navy to seek and interdict every vessel in International Waters that has paid a toll to Iran. No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas. We will also begin destroying the mines the Iranians laid in the Straits. Any Iranian who fires at us, or at peaceful vessels, will be BLOWN TO HELL! Iran knows, better than anyone, how to END this situation which has already devastated their Country. Their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti Aircraft and Radar are useless, Khomeini, and most of their “Leaders,” are dead, all because of their Nuclear ambition. The Blockade will begin shortly. Other Countries will be involved with this Blockade. Iran will not be allowed to profit off this Illegal Act of EXTORTION. They want money and, more importantly, they want Nuclear. Additionally and, at an appropriate moment, we are fully “LOCKED AND LOADED,” and our Military will finish up the little that is left of Iran! President DONALD J. TRUMP

I hope they gamed it out well and have a plan for what they’ll do if a Russian or Chinese naval vessel tries to escort a tanker out.

Seems counterproductive. Might be better to just take Kharg and starve their economy.

I'd do exactly what he's doing and blow Kharg out of the water. And destroy every Iranian coastal landing area for miles.
