Over the past 40 years, we have seen a bizarre shift where as a whole we no longer understand the difference between causal and corollary relationships. Most unfortunately, this has even moved into science and medicine.

It's his schtick. Like Ann, I find him occasionally entertaining. I make no pretensions about being in the political middle. The only thing in the middle of the road is a yellow stripe and dead armadillos.

The jokes have been flying among my old “Debit Suisse” buddies but this is overblown and they’ll be fine.

@Jolly said in The New Term: https://www.npr.org/2022/10/03/1126041958/supreme-court-new-term a tumultuous term a second potentially stormy term sustained and dramatic turn to the right overturning of a half century of precedents it finds its approval ratings plummeting And that's in the first two paragraphs. The starkest question is whether the previous decisions were grievously wrong, the same rationale the court majority used last term in overturning Roe v. Wade. Good, now do Plessy. Since 2013, the court has struck down or neutered key provisions of the landmark 1965 law "Neutered." Nice. It's a shame that Ginsburg isn't around to proofread Totenberg's screed.

Don't know about East Texas, especially down near the Gulf. West Texas is bad. Been a lot of herd culling this year, just not enough grass...And hay prices will be higher than a cat's back this winter.

There have definitely been some core "groups" that generally started and stopped about the same time, and I would argue made some of the better seasons of SNL... late 70s, mid-80s, mid-90s, and late 2000s... but there is a larger cast it seems lately, with changes, so it does feel less consistent. I think also SNL faces an insane amount of streaming/alternate pressures that no longer makes it a weekly staple of entertainment that some used to rely on it for. That being said, I watched a little bit of it last weekend for the first time in probably 10 years. Ironic.

Oddball lab fact... In Africa, pretty common not to have a very robust or very competent medical lab testing system, especially in rural areas. Some LFT results should be confirmed by more rigorous methods...HIV being the most prominent. Not in much of Africa. You ping positive on one LFT, the doc will reach for a different manufacturer's kit. You ping positive on that one, and tag you're it. Diagnosis established. I have a friend that travels around the world for the ASCP, trying to institute lab personnel training programs. She has some pretty neat stories...
