@Doctor-Phibes said in The Serial Novel: In some ways, we still have serial novels, it's just that each episode is the length of what used to be a novel. Kinda, except for some of the fantasy stuff.

@Horace said in Possible Dem contenders in 2024: It's not easy to be elected president in america. You can't be a minority, you can't be a woman, you can't be gay or transgendered. You can't be developmentally disabled. That leaves like four people, and I'm definitely not running. So that leaves three. LOL! Barack Hussein Obama (again, how did he ever win with that name...considering we just killed Hussein, and were about to kill Osama) was also pretty unknown, at least until the 2004 DNC speech, but still... his momentum in 2007/2008 kind of came out of nowhere.

@Jolly said in More Republicans than Democrats die from COVID-19: Do registered Dems vote Republican? They do down here. Rumour has it that around here registered Republicans vote Democrat. Maybe so they can spoil the primaries....

To be honest, food prices do need to go up. At least at the producer level. We have probably the cheapest food on the planet, but it's not the best or the healthiest. I'm also concerned that big corporations like ADM use their economic clout to monopolize segments of the Ag market, making us less food secure.

That tune had such an effect on me when I was little. It's what made me want to play the saxophone, so is largely responsible for my wasted life. I still love it, and the bass thing is cool and all, but the original is a lot better.

A problem not only in Africa! "Some time after 1978, four African hippos were brought to Colombia by Pablo Escobar. Mr. Escobar was a Colombian criminal who became rich by selling illegal drugs." https://newsforkids.net/articles/2020/02/20/invasive-hippos-cause-problems-in-colombia/

@George-K said in Building a 1/72 P-39Q: My favorite part was in the p39 where he drills out holes in the trailing edge of the horizontal stabilizer. "This is a detail that won't be very visible, but it makes me happy." I totally noticed that and appreciated it for the same reason. This guy is committed to his art.

Same, it's an option similar to the window seat person's option to raise or lower the shade. Yeah that's not surprising. I’m confused by your reply.

@Horace said in Happy Birthday, Mr. President: @brenda said in Happy Birthday, Mr. President: @George-K said in Happy Birthday, Mr. President: 80 years young. On Sunday, Biden will reach a major milestone when he is expected to spend his 80th birthday quietly with his family, many of whom will be at the White House to mark another occasion: His granddaughter Naomi’s wedding. Biden allies say they know the day will be used by his rivals, who want to cast the president as lacking the energy and mental acuity needed for the job. The question is increasingly relevant, critics say, as Biden considers reelection, though the president’s supports say the age-based attacks are markedly unfair. “I’m sure Republicans will use the day to remind everyone that he’s some out-of-it octogenarian, which couldn’t be farther from the truth,” one Biden ally said. Michael Eric Dyson, the renowned scholar who met with Biden last year as part of a small group of historians, said this of the GOP criticism: “Joe Biden has proven time and again that it’s, as he would call it, malarky.” “When we see LeBron James and Tom Brady performing 20 years into their careers, that’s the indication that 80 may be the new 60, and I’m all for it,” Dyson said. “The reason he can fall off his bicycle is because he was on it in the first damn place,” he added. Just read that the 28-year-old granddaughter and her boyfriend live in the White House. They are both professionals with jobs that pay well, and they live with Joe. No need to rent a venue for the wedding. It will be at the White House. Jill Biden’s staff says the Biden family is paying for the wedding. Oh boy, the amenities that come with that address. And no rent ? Joe wouldn't charge them rent, would he?
