@jon-nyc There actually is a claimant (albeit disputed) to the throne of Russia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Duchess_Maria_Vladimirovna_of_Russia And even if Putin wanted to attend he couldn’t he has been PNG’ed by HM Government.

Very nice. Now, if you're a female... Don't run in the dark, especially when the streets are almost deserted. Don't run by yourself. Have lethal or non-lethal means on you, in order to protect yourself.

@Jolly said in Speaking of Apple: @George-K said in Speaking of Apple: Back in the day, @jon-nyc would've hit that. Speaking about her looks as a young lady...As a man, I would have much rather had a lady that looked like that, than the receiving line picture of Marilyn Monroe we saw the other day. Pretty, but smart. Somebody you wouldn't mind falling madly in love with... I have to say, IMHO the young Mrs. Phibes bore some resemblance to her majesty. I'd post a picture, except she'd rip my head off and beat me with the soggy end. She's fearsome when roused.

Or maybe Prince Andrew, hoping that the 16 year olds he knocks when visiting up can always get an abortion.

If he has a wide-open route, something substantial to gain and the time to slide down, fine. But he was doing some running back stuff last night in big piles of Rams. That's decision making that will shorten his career. Still, the Bills were impressive last night.

@Horace said in Will Queen Elizabeth survive the year?: I never thought and prayed about her. My bad. Don't feel guilty. You've got that suspiciously brown pond to think about.

Apple Inc. says the new iPhone 14 will help women track and monitor their menstrual cycles better. Ain't that right, @Horace? I watched Apple Inc.'s recent "Apple Event" introducing the new series of Apple Watches and iPhones, and that's the first new function featured in the event -- an additional temperature sensor built into the series 8 Apple Watch that Apple Inc. uses in combination with a bunch of other sensors to better track the wearer's ovulation and menstrual cycles.

@Mik said in Jon, pay cash: What the hell good will that further intrusion on privacy do? It's just nibbling. By law, there is not a readily available database of 4473 forms. By doing this, NYC would have a very quick and searchable database of legally purchased firearms and ammunition. Makes them a lot easier to confiscate.

@Jolly But it does lend itself to a slippery slope argument, especially if resources become scarce. Ah yes, the slippery slope argument. That’s why North Americans up here wear ice cleats when they go out in winter. I bet one or two self professed experts here did not know that.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Steve Bannon charged with fraud over wall fundraising: @Jolly said in Steve Bannon charged with fraud over wall fundraising: Well, you certainly don't have as much common sense about the welfare of th nation. Actually, I think both sides are doing potentially irreparable damage. You make all kinds of excuses for what Trump has done and have been dismissive of his critics from the get-go. I am dismissive of many criticisms, because I believe they are A) ginned up by a biased media and B) rendered with bias. The best criticisms of Trump are by people who would criticize Biden for the same things.
