I realise that the op-ed is satire, but it also belies an inferiority complex that, in my opinion, is unwarranted. The National Post is not a bad paper - it is not a tabloid. It is a small c conservative newspaper that is, for the most part, factually accurate in its reporting. It’s counterpart in the UK would be The Daily Telegraph.
On an equal footing with Globe and Mail, The National Post is indisputably a nationally recognised and credible English language news source. Like the Globe and Mail it serves a demographic that is more often than not, university educated with professional credentials and/or in management positions corporately and in public service. One might even say it is popular among the nation’s Anglophone elite.
