That outcome — “terrifying,” as Melissa Agard, a Democratic state senator and the leader of the party’s campaign arm in the chamber, described it — would clear a runway for Republican state legislators to follow through on their promises to eliminate the state’s bipartisan elections commission and take direct control of voting procedures and the certification of elections.
What could go wrong?
There is no plausible story that starts with vote certification shenanigans out in public under everybody's noses, and ends with a permanent cessation of the meaning of votes entirely.
You should be happy to see this attempted. It will only give Republicans a further black eye in the public debate, similar to January 6. I won't presume to know how you really feel about January 6 - whether it was terrifying, cathartic, or some combination of both - but I am very clear that the strategists in your tribe love that it happened.
