I also think these guys are having children and people are starting to realize that boys are not girls. They need a bit different approach in child -rearing to meet their potential. And they also want their boys to have an equal opportunity to succeed in life.

@89th said in Monster Track bike race in Manhattan: Why would the bikes be brakeless? Just to add to the thrill? My guess is that they're fixies—so the brakes are in your legs. Bike messengers have a serious hard-on for fixies.

@Mik said in What if you can tote the note...: Took six months to get it repaired. No parts. That kind of thing happened to many cars in 2021-22 with the supply chain issues. I had mine fixed a year ago (normal amount of time) but the guy at the shop had horror stories about cars waiting months for random parts.

@taiwan_girl this is not the first time that this has happened in my neighborhood. There was a cyclist who did the same thing. Gates Down: Don't Go Round. About 6 months ago, in my neighborhood, someone was killed by the westbound California Zephyr. Apparently, he was trespassing on the right-of-way, wearing headphones/earbuds, and didn't hear the train coming up behind him.

It is just insane crazy what the Khmer Rouge did. I was able to attend a talk given by Nate Thayer, who was the "Far Eastern Economic Review" magazine reporter who tracked down and "found" Pol Pot in the jungle in 1997 and interviewed him. Quite an interesting talk on the Khmer Rouge and what they did when they controlled the country from 1975-1979 and how they managed to survive and control part of the country for a few decades after that. (Nate Thayer just recently died.)

When historian two hundred years from now talks about past US presidents, President Biden will be one of those president who was just "there". No real impact, good or bad.

Very cool. On the same thing, here is the model of Hogwarts that they used to shoot some of the overhead scenes. It is in a big room in the studio north of London, UK. [image: 1679360156656-vacation-2015-london-119.jpg]

We went a few times when we there 20 years, ago, but it's been so long. The obvious CN Tower and Niagara Falls are what spring to mind, and The Harbourfront was a nice stroll by the water. The thing I really remember about Toronto is that it was always either far too cold or far too hot, however if she grew up in Chicago that might not be such an issue Niagara-on-the-Lake is a nice little touristy town. Both it and Niagara Falls are about a 90 minute drive as you have to drive around the lake.

Blue sky today, sunny, feels good... lots of snow waiting to melt, though. Saw and heard lots of geese flying... all weather apps aside, the birds will tell you when the season is getting ready to change.
