He is an interesting and thoughtful guy. Not living life trapped in the primate motivations many celebrities never escape from. He’s written some fiction books about Sherlock Holmes’ smarter brother, of all things.

Figured out the oddity... The app was set up to show the annualized return over a three year period. Three years ago the stock market was having it's COVID spasms and was all over the place...

@xenon said in 'Too good to be true' bike deal: Worked out great! Met the guy at his house. He bought the bike during COVID to ride with his boys, and the boys weren’t interested in biking anymore. He gave me a bunch of extra tools and threw in his $85 bike lock. He had the original manual and all. Funny enough my son getting his first real bike prompted me to buy this.

I have been playing VR Golf for about a year now first using the Oculus Rift-S and currently I am using the HP Reverb G2 headset. I 3D printed a golf club attachment for the controller. Multi user is fun. We also enjoy VR Mini-Golf.

This reminds me a little of the elderly British lady who wrote to the Oxford English Dictionary complaining about all the rude words that were in it. Presumably, she'd just spent hours looking them up.

I like that movie. If you don't like the story, a new one will be along soon. As the cowboy stands upon the gallows with three other men awaiting execution, he looks at the man to his left, who is weeping and bemoaning his fate, and quips "first time?"

I think he's wrong about vertical envelopment. I still think a decently armed force at a blocking point in the enemy's rear has worth. Not paratroopers. We learned in WW2 that's a waste of men. But with the air assets we have now, we can land a sizeable force with a decent amount of firepower to be a real headache. He mentioned things like hand-held anti-aircraft and anti-armor, but he didn't talk about how effective some of the old weapons have been when coupled with drones...Light mortars. Artillery. HIMARS and the like. Just like the Spanish Civil War, the Ukraine War is going to have a big effect on how wars are fought in the future.

@Catseye3 said in Kind of surprising: @Aqua-Letifer Years ago, I was walking down the street in downtown DC. I passed a liquor store. A black man was lying facedown on the sidewalk, on the long side of the building, either passed out or dead. Whatever his status, he needed help. I kept on walking. Not my circus, not my clowns. I've always been bothered by that. I should have stopped, gone into the store and advised somebody about the guy. Link to video
