We should always hang on to a few coal plants, or at least the sort of plants that can start "cold."

Yes, great examples. The synced time is underappreciated, I agree. Heck just this morning I had a meeting that starts at 0830 and the host started it at 829 and I had the thought of "I know for a fact she sees it's 0829 and is starting early", ha!

A side note... I was reading some stuff about the current avian flu problem and a person who lives in a turkey producing area commented on the recent push to thin the flocks before they possibly became infected. Breast meat is worth quite a bit more than dark meat, so the local processing plant often processes the breast for supermarket sale and the dark meat for other things. The plant does not sell to the public, but employees can buy the products at the wholesale price. Employees routinely buy a case of legs for dog food...It's that cheap.

@Jolly said in Is it live, or is it Memorex?: My opinion, but my definition of a truly good singer, or an especially good band, is when they can produce live on stage, something approaching the perfection of the studio. I won't disagree with you on that one. In another video he talks about the Milli Vanilli controversy. Specifically, he gets into how, today, everything is staged, and not real in the performance - the amps are hooked up, the mics are positioned above the drum kit, and what the audience hears is a backing track. And the problem is, the audience doesn't know. Larry used to talk about that stuff.

@89th said in Long form tweets soon: @Aqua-Letifer excellent! You’re right. Especially regarding the “stop the scroll”. I have noticed an increase in videos that are split screen. One side with the footage and the other side is someone just watching it and nodding their head or something. Looks really stupid but hey…it stops the scroll! That's all it is. Jackasses inventing new ways to hijack your immediate attention and others following suit. I've said before that TikTok is social media fentanyl. But the thing with fentanyl is, you know what you're doing to yourself.

Anybody want to post a quick summary? Not dissing the piece at all, but the TL;DR is the headline. Left and right, there just aren’t intellectuals working today of the stature of a generation or two ago. I think maybe you missed my joke (Article complains about lack of intellectual depth. Moron asks for brief summary as he can't be bothered to read it) I've known you're a moron for so long I forget how funny it is.

No, I haven't done any scripts yet. Programming is actually an area where ChatGPT can do some pretty interesting things. People are talking a lot about using it as a kind of assistant while programming.

Why do the overs get initial capital letters? And what's with all the periods? And to be honest I'm not sure reason is winning these days.

@jon-nyc said in Jan 6 Commission leaks SS#s: If you read the piece you’ll hear that it was inadvertent. It probably was just that - careless. Edit to add: Whenever I was sued and had to give a deposition, my attorney told me never to use the word "inadvertent." People take it to mean careless. Say "accidental" instead.
