I've stopped listening to NPR. It's awful. Every discussion has this tacit assumption that they're smarter than the rest of us. WGBH are the most patronising bunch of assholes, who stop reporting for about 15 minutes of every hour just to tell us how awesome they are. If you need to tell people how awesome you are every hour, you're probably not that awesome. Obviously, I don't listen to Tucker, either. I grew up in northern England, I really don't need to listen to his "sarcastic humor and ridicule in a way only he can pull off" to learn about sarcastic humour or ridicule

Wonder what would happen if we add a human toddler or two into the mix. Supervised, of course.

@George-K said in Bard: @Aqua-Letifer said in Bard: Could be the data set, too. Unless you think the media has been fair and balanced with respect to Trump and Clinton. THat's my point. GIGO Yeah I gotcha. And anyway, when these tools get sophisticated enough to self-learn, I guarantee you no one will ever remember the 3-year sliver of time in their infancy that they had a liberal bias when asked about American politics. "It's always been that way around here", IOW. No, my point was that these "problems" are going to seem hilarious once these tools develop self-awareness. You're going to wish you could go back to the days they merely had a liberal bias. The new, far worse problems are going to have nothing to do with that.

What an absolute clickbait title. It’s a shame what has happened to journalism. I guess I’m part of the problem since I gave it a click, although sometimes I go out of my way not to if the headline is clickbaity. Also, can we pause and realize how immature and weird it is that folks have debates and evidence and threads…using little Twitter snippets? Guess I’m in a curmudgeonly mood right now!

@LuFins-Dad OK... "My crotch doesn't look like..." Perhaps it's time to call for some professional help. [image: 1679623426131-1679490124406-4_0f174d991e4a78af6690c81ee91a88ea.jpg]

Interesting that the majority of the budget is stuff that really there is no control over. USD$4.5B out of USD$6.2B Almost 75%.

Agree with everyone above. Good decision. (The oldest current track/field record is the woman 800 m, set by a Czech lady back in 1983. Pretty much agreed that she was taking male steroids. Shows how that can help performance) [image: 15325423889672.jpg]

@George-K said in The Poster Child is Dead.: Opening the door to whether transgenderism is a mental illness, aren't you? Body dysmorphia (anorexia, etc) is considered a mental illness, and is treated with psychiatric/psychological therapies. Is this different? I don't know. Do we treat anorexia with surgery, gastric bypass/staplilng? No we don't (yet). It's a fascinating subject. I know exactly one transgender person (IRL, not online). S/he was as crazy and insecure as could be. This person, imo, needed therapy, and not just for the transgenderism. S/he was a deeply disturbed person. Are you assuming that suicide = mental illness? If yes, then it’s the psychiatric and medical specialists declaring it a mental illness… “Would you rather have a live son or dead daughter” and all of that. Now, if I may ask… Teen suicide ideation was on a very steep drop for decades. From 29% in 1990 to 14% in 2009. Gender affirming care became readily in 2010. Since then suicide ideation has increased by over 20%. Attempted suicide is up by 16.7%, and successful suicide is up by 26% since 2009. Does that sound like Gender Affirming Care is saving lives? It seems to me that the actual causes for suicide are being misdiagnosed and not being treated.

Not new and not surprising. Hough has recorded piano works using Yamaha pianos and owns a Yamaha piano. None of this takes away @LuFins-Dad and his shop's win, of course.
