I think the question going forward becomes what did we learn and how do we apply it? Did the lockdowns of classic infection control work? How well did they work? What was the effectiveness of masking? What kind and for whom? What worked and what didn't in education? In nursing homes? In hospitals? Can we address supply chain issues effectively? How much freedom does a physician have in treating his patients? And in the spirit of this thread, can government(s) pull together a group of experts quickly enough to create policy on the fly? Should a mechanism be already in place for the next time. Make no mistake, there will be a next time. Should the Chinese suffer consequences from the lab leak? I don't think we have done an effective and comprehensive post-mortem on the COVID crisis. These questions and many more, need to be hashed out and maybe we can arrive at a new consensus of proper public health.
