Their bodies will not take the pounding...When a defender sees a running QB, it's party time. This new breed is not like a Fran Tarkenton. Fran played in the NFL for 18 years and ran around like a banshee, but he scrambled for time and an open receiver, not necessarily for yards. With the RPO of today, the rushing QB is trying to run for yards, depending on what the defense gives him. Taysom Hill is a helluva RPO QB. He averages almost five and a half yards per carry, but the Saints know that they can't run him over 8-10 plays per game or he stands a high chance of injury. Part of that is his running style, as he will truck you and grin about it. But any running QB absorbs too many hits. So, if the NFL continues to go that way, you're right. Draft a kid like Jayden Daniels who can throw, but who can take it to the house on any given run. Pair him with a top-notch defense and ride him for the five years of his rookie contract. While you're doing that, keep drafting QBs and hope you find another one for cheap. Wash, rinse and repeat.
