I love her performance of "Ständchen" - a little more luxurious than most people's performance. It's interesting that she's not putting it as an encore.

@Mik said in Elephant Crushes Woman (old incident): @Axtremus said in Elephant Crushes Woman (old incident): Just curious ... who here has sat on an elephant? (For this question, sitting on or riding a Republican does not count. You have to have sat on or ridden a real live elephant to count.) Me too. Fun, but a bit scary also. Here is a sign that I saw outside a Thai national park warning people about what to do if you come across a wild elephant [image: 1697589628141-img_1837.jpg]

Watching E2. I have to give it to the writers. They’ve resurrected an old character and made it still fresh.

@Mik said in Hay George - where's the beef?: I do not recommend gardenias on Italian beef. LOL. Have you tried them? Prolly adds a splash of color.

@taiwan_girl said in Bled to death: Coagulation is the clotting of blood. If his blood was not clotting, why would he be taking a blood thinner? That would seem to make it worse. What am I missing? "Blood thinner" is a colloquialism for an anticoagulant. Warfarin was the anticoagulant - the "thinner."

@LuFins-Dad said in 95%? True?: @taiwan_girl said in 95%? True?: @Axtremus said in 95%? True?: So far so good, no regret on taking either vaccine this year. Same. Sometimes, it is hard to prove a negative. If I do not get COVID or have asymptomatic COVID or a very mild case, then as an individual, it is hard for ME to say with absolute confidence that it was because of the vaccine. But, when a large population is included, then the numbers seem to prove this. But the large numbers also seem to show that the unvaccinated aren’t getting COVID or are getting very mild or asymptomatic cases as well. I was not aware of that. I thought it showed severe cases were less with vaccinated people.

@George-K said in What is the point of dealing with customer service when you can just return something to Amazon?: They just accept it, and refund your purchase. A smaller place would probably lose $$ on this, but, for Amazon, it's probably a rounding error. I bet Amazon passes the full price of the return back to the vendor. Amazon does some interesting stuff - that is why they are being sued. For example, even though Amazon will take up to 50% of the price as a commission for selling on their site, a vendor is not allowed to sell the same product for a cheaper amount anywhere.

I think the voice-over doesn't claim the helicopter is called "Air Force One." He says it's the "Air Force One Stairway Event." (It's called "Marine One," BTW)

That is what I thought. The professor was probably going to retire anyway, and tried to gain some publicity.

Speaking of cars and water, here’s a weird one for you…A few weeks back (right after the three days of steady rain) I went to put on my seatbelt and as I was pulling on it water started gushing from the housing! Like 1/4 of a cup! I thought there might be a leak in the door seal, but it turns out there’s no door seal directly above it. It site between the front and back, and is actually above the level where the doors close and seal. I checked the roof and can find no signs of a leak (and can’t imagine how one would form there).

@taiwan_girl said in I guess one could say Hitler was "smart," but...: “Israel was going to do this with us, and it was being planned and working on it for months,” he said about the coordination to kill Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s Quds Force. “We had everything all set to go, and the night before it happened, I got a call that Israel will not be participating in this attack.” The head of Central Command during that time, Gen. McKenzie, responds during an interview: MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to ask you about something that former President Trump said on Wednesday. He said, in regard to the drone strike that took out Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in January 2020. He said Israel pulled out of the operation and quote, "Bibi Netanyahu let us down, that was a very terrible thing." Did Israel pull out and let America down? GEN. MCKENZIE: Margaret, I- unable to know of any communication, of course, between President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu. But I can tell you that this was a US operation. MARGARET BRENNAN: So, that would mean that's not accurate. GEN. MCKENZIE: That would mean that this was a US operation. It involved only US forces in the operational design and the execution of the mission.

I've got a couple... My old man saw, a 170: [image: MS170.png?w=710&h=532&fit=fill&auto=format,compress&fill=solid] And my working saw, a 270 w/ 20" bar: [image: OIP.a2JBtQvrdXnNJIJuC0QDugHaFj?pid=ImgDet&dpr=1.5] I run a set of double dogs on the big saw, which limits my log size to 38" or a little less (not that I can cut anything that big anymore). I used to run full-chisel on it, but I'm too old and too slow to handle that saw with an aggressive chain. And that's not even that powerful a saw for its size. Gettin' old ain't no fun...
