@89th said in Guy walks into a "Gun-Free" store with a gun.: LOL it's almost satire at this point. Agree.

@Copper said in Where's that thread about Russian officers dead?: @jon-nyc said in Where's that thread about Russian officers dead?: I wonder if there’s a millisecond of conscious awareness that one stepped on a mine? I assume that there would be unless it literally blows apart the skull instantly. Skip to 1:58 to see that "millisecond of conscious awareness". The blown apart skull follows. Link to video Possibly the best scene in the whole series. Maybe lots of other series too.

In 12 games, 1546 yards, 15 TDs. Nabers can play. LSU will not be in the college football playoff. The bowl game will be for bragging rights. If it was a playoff game, I'm sure he would play. Blow out a knee or break an ankle for Old War Skool in a meaningless game? Not if you are a first round talent. It's a business decision. And at this level, it ain't sis-boom-ah, it's a business. Now, if you're a kid that could use some more good tape, you play in the bowl game. Might even go to the Senior Bowl or something similar. But just as young athletes pick their school, enter the transfer portal or sign their NIL deals, it's all business decisions.

The only verified successful consummation of this sort of deal is when the Heaven's Gate cultists boarded the space ship behind Haley's comet. I am sure we would have heard about it if their souls had been left stranded.

Speaking of AI, my buddy was part of this 20% workforce layoff in favor of AI: https://techcrunch.com/2023/11/28/dataminr-the-4b-big-data-startup-is-laying-off-20-of-staff-today-or-150-people-as-it-preps-to-double-down-on-ai/

We could save a lot of money if Xi helped Joe in setting up the process for collecting and then parsing the information. After a while it will be dirt cheap, compared to the benefits of how the info is used. I guess we will also need more cameras everywhere. Xi helping comrade Joe. Has kinda a ring to it, eh?

Thanks, Jolly. Interesting summation. I was not aware of campus' sizes nor all of the universities. So. . . nothing changed? And, does the governor have that much power in statute to make such changes against public opinion, if he wants? Where was the legislature in this consolidation attempt, and where were the boards? Hope I'm not missing too much of the big picture, but this kind of stuff really interests me.

The number one way to be less white would be to apply some sort of dye to your skin, especially your face, to appear less white. But that's not on the list. Fake news.

It's interesting because at our place, when we started doing heart surgery, there was an exclusive contract with one group of surgeons (from University of Chicago) to do OHS (open-heart surgery), and no one else could - even though they were on staff and could do other procedures. When the relationship with U of C soured, another group had exclusive contract. After about 10 years, others were permitted to do OHS. And, speaking of "economic credentialing," my (old) group had its exclusive contract not renewed in 2017, and everyone was out of a job in 90 days. Administration thought it could find similar coverage for less money. Thought....

It was tough watching President Carter at the funeral. His time is short.
