@Copper said in Eject! Eject! Eject!: I gave a lot of rides like that, fun stuff. Good for you. Absolute core memory for my kids. Wish I could share the video here but you hear my kids saying: “this is the fastest plane ever! hey we are flying!! I can see Disney world! I can see the ocean!” Our pilot was a young fella but very professional the whole time, even though he flew the loop many times that day he was following the flight plan very strictly.

@LuFins-Dad said in Dont Get the Bikini Barista Mad!!: And one final part of this story that I would like an answer to is why exactly she has a claw hammer that close to hand and instinctively reached for it and attacked… I don't think that's particularly unusual for people in that kind of job who work alone. A friend of mine worked in a gas station back when people came into pay late at night and had something similar.

@LuFins-Dad said in I'm late to this one...: You know, black culture takes pride in being ghetto… Has anyone ever told them that ghetto literally means the area set aside for the Jews to live in? I mean, in a way, Israel is as ghetto as it gets…. Twofer? [image: OIP.flZY1dT7GWjAsOD9MDTTvgHaF_?dpr=1.5&pid=ImgDetMain]

In fairness, there is a sense of great adventure to immigrating to a new country where your hard work will be rewarded with a lifestyle you could not have achieved in your home country. But of course, being born somewhere, life there is the antithesis of adventure, so that motivation necessarily evaporates over the course of a generation or two.

No it stays up. It's next to a garage light that turns on from sunset to sunrise.

I don't think the general public was completely aware, but many of the people who move in those circles probably are.

@jon-nyc said in Trump and the waitress...: @Jolly said in Trump and the waitress...: Funny, back when Trump was President, I had more groceries in my cart for the same amount of money Then Covid hit and his appointee tripled the money supply in six weeks. And, not satisfied with the ice cream, Biden ordered two more scoops, chocolate topping and a cherry on top.

https://www.cnbc.com/2024/05/23/palm-beach-housekeepers-massive-demand.html Housekeepers in Palm Beach and South Florida are cleaning up, with salaries often topping $150,000 and bidding wars between mansion owners becoming common, according to staffing companies. The mass wealth migration to Florida from New York and other high-tax states has created record demand for household staff in elite Florida enclaves — especially Palm Beach. Demand for butlers (now called “hospitality managers” or “estate managers”) as well as nannies, chefs, drivers and personal security has surged, according to staffing agencies. It’s the shortage of housekeepers, however, that has created the biggest mess for wealthy homeowners. Many of the wealthy emigres to Florida bought big homes and now need people to clean them. Hotels, resorts and businesses are also vying for cleaning staff. The result: Typical pay for housekeepers has rocketed from about $25 an hour in 2020 to $45 or $50 an hour today, according to some agencies. and Melissa Psitos, founder of Lily Pond Services, said she recently had a Florida client hoping to hire a housekeeper for $75,000 a year. They ended up paying $110,000, which was reasonable for the market. Executive housekeepers, who often help direct a staff of other housekeepers and laundresses, can make even more. Psitos said she knows one head housekeeper in Palm Beach who makes $250,000 a year, including overtime, and travels with the family to their various homes.

https://www.cnbc.com/2024/06/16/used-ev-price-crash-gets-deeper-with-premium-brand-idea-history.html Back in February, used electric vehicle prices dipped below used gasoline-powered vehicle prices for the first time ever, and the pricing cliff keeps getting steeper as car buyers reject any “premium” tag formerly associated with EVs. The decline has been dramatic over the past year. In June 2023, average used EV prices were over 25% higher than used gas car prices, but by May, used EVs were on average 8% lower than the average price for a used gasoline-powered car in U.S. In dollar terms, the gap widened from $265 in February to $2,657 in May, according to an analysis of 2.2 million one to five year-old used cars conducted by iSeeCars. Over the past year, gasoline-powered used vehicle prices have declined between 3-7%, while electric vehicle prices have decreased 30-39%.
