No question, Churchill was a Francophile but there was also considerable goodwill towards the French as a nation. De Gaulle stood out because he was, from the onset of the war, determined to fight the Nazis. That he was an unbearable and duplicitous narcissist was secondary.

Not sure if I posted it here, but I was ranting the other day about websites.... 20 years ago they were just as bad. Pop-ups, ads everywhere, it's really horrible. How has it not changed? I try to read articles in "reader mode" on my phone which strips out everything except the article text, and it's quite refreshing.

I like that idea, Jolly. @LuFins-Dad clearly I could google this, but what option do teams have if there is no on-sides kick? That always added a little excitement to MANY games when it was close. BTW the new rule feels weird, but will probably feel normal after a few years.

@89th said in Dennis Quaid just ended his career.: It's hard to describe the ripple effect from the election... tens of millions still believe he didn't lose, believe there is widespread election fraud and conspiracies, think it's normal for an outgoing President not to attend inauguration activities for his successor or communicate an acceptance of a transition of power. Yeah, I was talking to someone about that there was no evidence, etc of vote fraud, and their response was something like, "the absence of evidence does not equal that the evidence does not exist" I felt like saying, "Okay, I believe that you are a child molester, The absence of evidence does not equal that evidence does not exist." But, it was smarter to keep my mouth shut. LOL
