INteresting. I think that the ability to stay pretty independent is, in the long term, very good for the US economy.

It is. Looking historically non-independent central banks ending up serving the interest of the political career of the executive rather than the country. It’s inevitable.

It’s not obvious that celebrity endorsements aren’t actually counter productive. But then again hulk hogan played a bigger role for Trump than any celebrity did for Harris.

One has to wonder why someone would release the bear into the wild after maybe their whole life in a zoo. Seems cruel.

May have to rethink fengshui, but I wouldn't mind as long as it is safe and comfortable (and affordable).

When you live this far north DST is wholly unnecessary anytime if the year. This time if however it’s justvplain dangerous for the reason jon posted above. No daylight until 9 am.

I can live with changing the clock twice every year.

The line in the article ‘those who would want it already have one’ reminds me of my situation. My dad always assumed I’d take his Steinway. But then I got my Bosie. He wanted to give it to my sister but she didn’t have the room for it. So we ended up donating it to a local music school.

It’s not intuitive that the effect of a poll is to create votes in conformance with the poll. If a surprise poll came out and it made me think my side was losing, it would motivate me to vote.

@George-K is smart and proves it yet again.

Alot of it sounds like, "I am going to go after people who dont like me"

Why not "crack down on government workers who collude with the leftright-wing media to create false narratives" for example?

(Though I actually dont agree with term limits unless the value is quite high, like 20 years or so)

For me, it seems that the conclusion is that the majority of the people voted for the "less extreme" party.

Most people tend to be in the center.

Obviously, you are among those who hate democracy.

    @Copper said in The Bogeyman:

Cut the growth of government spending to reduce inflation

Just wondering where you would like to see inflation at. 0%? The 2% target from the Central Bank? Deflation?

Right now in the US, it is trending down at 2.4(?)%

This particular case may have a lot to do with it. The rehabilitation aspect is nonsense. There are things you simply cannot come back from.

You know, Biden did not survive in Washington as long as he did, and reach the heights that he did, without political chops. I'm starting to believe more and more that he knew Kamala-lama-ding-dong was a ticking time bomb and unable to wage a successful national campaign.

By naming her so soon after the coup, ol' Fuck-up Joe gave Obama and his faction a royal screwing without benefit of lube. Obama never got a chance to shoehorn his preferred candidate into the nomination.

And then, just to ladle a little icing on the cake, Biden made a few decent gaffes or just weird statements, guaranteed to tie her to him. Not saying all the goofs were planned, probably just a couple.

Maybe Biden and Dr. Jill get a chuckle or too, as they walk out of the Whitehouse door for the last time.
