Sorry to hear, but you're strong. You probably picked it up from one of those Five Guys 3 guys and a gal.

@jon-nyc said in 44 & 60: I’d be curious how people here relate this broad averages with their own experience. I saw quite a decline in my early 40s but I’m a special case in that regard. Advancing lung disease overwhelmed whatever ‘normal’ decline I might have experienced. I think it's fairly true, as a general rule. Even most professional athletes show marked shifts in ability in their mid-thirties and the person who can still compete at 40 is a rare bird. I know that as I turned 40, I just didn't have the energy or stamina I had when I was younger. Until almost 60, I was ten feet tall and bulletproof. From 1980 until 2017, I took 3 sick days off from work. Since then, things have gone downhill and I've had a couple of serious problems with more niggling, chronic ailments. Which stands to reason, I reckon. Most older folks don't die from a single, catastrophic disease, but eventually succumb to several things being stacked up, until we get to the proverbial straw. I think we just wear out. I don't know how many people have told me not long before they died, just how worn out and tired they were. How to stay younger? I think we're on the right road... Genetics play a huge part, along with nutrition and exercise.

@Jolly said in We're Going To Rock Down To.................... Electric Avenue: The royalties are usually set by who owns the catalog. That's right. Didn't Michael Jackson own the Beatles' catalog for a while?

I still have an old Apple Airport in my house somewhere, not sure in the basement or the attic. By the way, the standard reference for the latest generation of Wi-Fi technology you can buy today is IEEE 802.11ax.

@jon-nyc said in So, I went to the vet on Friday.: How is he around vets? He's a bit skittish, but I don't think he recognizes the vet as a "vet." Just another person. The vet was good, getting down on the floor to encourage Sid to come to him. After about 15 minutes, he was able to get Sid to step up on his arm. What does he do when someone’s trying to trim his beak and nails? We used to have a groomer come to the house, and he absolutely hated it. She'd restrain him with a towel, and then go at it. [image: 1726445891016-img_0812.jpg] She's retired, so we do the vet thing. The vet was able to get him enclosed in a towel and took him to the back...

There's no deeper essence of cleanliness beyond what something looks and smells like. Under a microscope, everything is disgusting, and if you zoom out far enough, everything is clean.

It amazes me that Hamas' propaganda machine is so strong, that the resident still support them after they let them starve.

Ah, but he's big on lies. Interestingly enough, I read a piece the other day about how the public views lies from politicians or public persons in power...Whether the public puts any emphasis on lies, revolved around effectiveness. They gave the example of Andrew Carnegie, who was utterly ruthless in business and once started an entire boatload of salacious lies to put a competitor out of business...And then Carnegie went on to make more and better steel than anybody else. If a person can bring about change, can succeed in being effective and successful in helping the public, the public could care less about any hyperbole or lies. Thought that was interesting.

I never understood the appeal of vodka. As the article says, its sole purpose seems to be to give a "kick" to other beverages - IOW, to act as an intoxicant. Though that might be a worthy goal for some, I never understood it. I hate the feeling of any intoxication.

The TLDR is it should cost about a million. But ranges up to 25 million (for Zuck). Interesting article nonetheless!

@Doctor-Phibes said in Riddle me this, Trump supporters: @Mik said in Riddle me this, Trump supporters: Things always get testy around presidential elections. lol. Some people do seem a little irritable. We could of course look upon it as an opportunity.... Most attempts at starting conversations around here get ignored, so I am a little testy when conversations that posters are actually investing in, get dismissed as unworthy of appearing on these hallowed pages.
