Marines moving from Okinawa to Guam

This seems unwise to me given the threat to Taiwan. Guam is a whole lot further east. 7 hours by flight.

Agree, but there has been ALOT of opposition to the Marines in Okinawa from the Japanese residents there. Politicians there for the last 30 years or so have been campaigning on this. One of the main initial points was the rape/murder of a young girl in Okinawa by three marines in the late 1990's or so.
